Citing the Data Protection Act, the Assistant Governor at Manchester Prison, refused to provide Ferris with the information he requested, murder inquiry or not. He told Ferris he’d be happy to allow the police access to the physical prison logs, which meant someone from Ross’s team would have to drive over to Manchester in person.
Angry at the lack of cooperation from the prison, DS Izzie Drake took it upon herself to make the required prison visit. As she was preparing to leave, Ross suggested she take DC Sinclair along with her, saying the experience would do him good.
