CHAPTER 3

EMILIA'S POV

I didn't expect Walter to give me a second chance at the interview, though he was still looking very serious and intimidating as well. I was really happy to have gotten a second chance and I agreed to the time he gave me. I smiled throughout my shift at Meg Superstore.

"Why have you been smiling for some time now?". I told him it was nothing, Ben was curious to know what was the cause of my smile but he didn't need to know. I finished my shift and went straight home, got ready for bed so I could be up early for tomorrow's appointment with Walter. Beth wasn't home yet cause she was at work, I turned off the lights and went off to bed.

At 5:00am my alarm buzzed, I quickly rushed into the shower and took my bath, after that I made myself breakfast and after eating I left the house.

This time I got to Green Group of Company quite earlier than the first day, I was filled with so much excitement. I walked up to meet Helen, Walters Secretary, to inform her I was there for the interview, where she caught sight of me.

"Hi Miss Emilia, you are welcome. Mr Walter will be with you by 8:00am for the interview.

"Thank you Helen," I said. 30 minutes earlier for the interview, I turned back to the seat made for guests, the leather of the seats were so fine and it was comfortable as well. It was made of fine shiny wood and green coloured wrap. The office surroundings were so neat, you could see your face on the shining tile. While I was observing the office environment, Helen walked up to me.

"Miss Emilia, Mr Walter will see you now".

"Okay". I stood up and carried my bag along with me as I walked behind her to Walter's office. She opened the door to let me in and closed it behind me as she left. I took a very deep breath to stop me from panicking as I walked towards the seat in Walter's office, he was already seated on his seat.

"Good morning Mr. Walter", I said to introduce my presence. He raised his head from the book he was reading.

"Morning Miss Emilia, have a seat", and he went back into reading the book for some minutes before looking at me again. "Can we begin?".

I gave a positive nod. I kept it cool during the interview and did not allow myself to be distracted by his looks or allowed him to intimidate me again. The interview went well and this time I was pleased with myself. He signed the form which I went with to show I had successfully interviewed him, this form was really important cause I had to submit it at Sky Press.

"As I prepared to leave his office he said, "Would you be available for a coffee date tomorrow?".

'Yes Mr. Walter", I replied

"Meet me at The Cafe Shop by oxford street", he handed me his complimentary card.

I was excited and at the same time confused, the man I am so attracted to is inviting me on a date? I tried to hide my excitement from him, I took the card from him and said, " 3pm is fine, I will be there".

I can't believe he invited me out on a date. I thought to myself as I was leaving the Green group of companies, he looked so fierce but it seems he hasn't or has he noticed I like him or maybe he likes me. It's difficult to guess since he has no expression. What was on his mind? What did he want to tell me? I thought of all these while I walked down the road to get a cab to Sky Press. I couldn't wrap my head around it, so I got a cab and headed to Sky Press to work on filing the interview with Walter and get it ready for submission. I quickly brought out his complimentary card and saved his contact on my mobile phone so I didn't misplace his number, then I continued with my work at the office. After I was done, I headed for my shift at Meg Superstore but I closed earlier. I told Ben I had something important to attend too, I really didn't have an emergency, I only wanted to get myself prepared for my date with Walter.

I got home and brought out all the clothes in my wardrobe, Beth walked in while I was still searching.

"Great you're back Beth, please I need your help to select a dress for my date tomorrow", she looked at me surprised cause she knows I don't have a boyfriend.

"Who are you going on a date with?"Beth popped the question just as I had expected.

"Walter invited me on a date".

"You mean Walter from Green group of companies?", she asked with a lot of excitement in her face.

"Yes it's Walter".

"So how did you get to fix a date with him?".

I told her how he came to Meg superstore and how I went back for the interview. She was so happy and I was blushing. She helped me pick a red straight dress, Silver jewelry and a matching shoe. I set all aside waiting for the next day.

The next day I arrived at the Cafe shop all dressed in my prepared outfit at 3pm but Walter wasn't there yet. Some minutes later I tried calling him when I saw him entering the Cafe Shop and was moving towards my direction, I think he saw me from the door.

He got to my table and sat opposite me, then he said "sorry I had a meeting".

"It's fine Sir" I replied. I was sad because he didn't compliment my look after all the effort I made.

He called the waiter who came with the menu and another note. He ordered cold coffee, while I ordered caramel coffee. After taking our order the waiter left our table. It was quiet since he wasn't saying anything and I didn't say anything as well. The waiter came in with our orders and I sipped my coffee.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Walter asked, staring at me directly,

With the cup still hanging in my mouth, "What a surprising question, I don't have a boyfriend", I said to him. "But why do you ask?", I inquired from him but he didn't reply. The next thing, Walter dropped the bill on the table, stood up and left The Cafe Shop. I was confused and didn't know what to say or do, he left me there speechless. I watched as he walked through the door of the Cafe shop, opened his car door, entered and drove off. I sat down for sometime to comprehend what had just happened. Did I say anything wrong?, why would he just leave without a word?.
