Shadows closing in.

The black car across the street wasn’t just waiting it was hunting. I hadn’t told Jenna about Lisa’s message. Or maybe I was too scared to face either of them. Jenna was asleep on my couch when the doorbell rang. My heart dropped. I didn’t want to open it. But I did. A tall man, suit sharp and eyes colder than ice, stood there. “Tommy?” His voice was calm but carried an edge of warning. “I’m her husband,” he said simply. “You’ve been playing a dangerous game.” I swallowed hard. “I don’t know what you mean.” He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “You’re already in deeper than you think. Jenna’s life is on the line and now, so is yours.” The door slammed shut behind him, and just like that, the world I knew shattered. No more lies. No more pretending. I was trapped in a deadly dance where trust was the first victim. And the question hanging over me: Who could I really trust?. The tension in the house was suffocating. Jenna’s husband didn’t leave after his warning. Instead, he stayed watching, calculating. One night, the silence shattered. A loud crash upstairs. I ran toward the noise, heart pounding like a war drum. In the bedroom, Jenna lay motionless, a pool of blood spreading beneath her. Her husband stood over her, knife in hand, eyes wild with rage. “You were never supposed to be here,” he snarled, turning to me with a cold, deadly stare. I barely escaped with my life, the image of Jenna’s lifeless eyes burned into my mind. The man who once seemed like a warning was now a killer. I realized then this wasn’t just a game. It was a fight for survival. And in this dark world, no one knows anyone.
