Jerry POV
I have been following Aroura towards Dawning Star since shortly after she left Crestmoon, yesterday. I camped last night, some distance from her. I don't want to scare her, but I want to make sure she makes it to Dawning Star safe. As I see her finally reach the edge of town, I know she will be safe from here. I decide to take a run and let off some steam. I have been so confused about this whole situation. I was so excited when I was told the traveler would be at our pack, but then I saw this girl. She is so young, so innocent, and naive. How can she be the being meant to save our world? Alpha Wayne told me I must not interfere with her journey, that I can only do what the oracle told me, but I am conflicted about a child alone on this journey. After my run, I head towards town to fulfill my part in her journey.
Jenny POV
The oracle from Crestmoon contacted me last night to inform me of my task. I was at work, when she walked in. She truly does radiate power, a sleeping power. She had long chestnut hair, and big green eyes. She was a beautiful child, but still just a child. She took a seat, and I am quick to walk over to greet her.
"Merry meet, I am Jenny, what would you like?"
"Something simple please, with a soda." She responded.
"I know just what you would like." I told her. "You are new around here, aren't you?" I tried to make small talk.
"Yes, I just got into town a few minutes ago. It seems like a nice place to stay a couple days to rest." She replied with a sweet smile.
"I think you will enjoy your stay, and benefit from your time here." I winked as I walked away to put her order in. I told the staff to hurry, that she had been traveling and was probably starving. I stood at the counter and watched as she took in the view with amazement. She seemed so innocent and pure, unaltered by cruelty. She knows nothing of what she is or what the future holds. Though her family powers are under a binding spell, she is to strong for that spell and it is slowly breaking. She is from the first bloodline, directly descended from the goddess, but more powerful than her whole bloodline. This child could destroy entire towns with the blink of her emerald green eyes, and the goddess choose me to help train her. I have a feeling it will take decades for me to grasp the magnitude of this honor. I grabbed her plates and soda, and headed for her table.
"This is our special today." I told her sitting down her plate of roast beef and potatoes. "I think you will enjoy it." I smiled at her.
She must have been hungry because it took a few minutes for her to noticed Beta Jerry. I knew he was following her, so his food is already waiting.
"Hey, Jerry. I done have a plate ready for you. Where are you sitting?" I asked him.
"I will be dining with Aroura." He said as he pointed to her table. "Put both meals on the pack bill and add a generous tip, Jenny."
I watched as Jerry joined her at the table. I will check on them shortly so that Jerry and I can make an excuse for me to introduce her to magic.
Jerry POV
"Hello Aroura, can I join you?" I asked her
She looked up at me with that innocent face, "Yes, by all means." She replied.
"Wayne wanted me to check on you and make sure you made it here safely." I told her pretending to look at the menu.
"That is very kind of you all, I am good as you can see. I do pretty good at keeping myself safe." She told me a bit amused. "There was no need for them to make you come all this way."
"Honestly, something scared our oracle and Wayne would not rest until he knew you were safe." I told her.
"You can assure them, I had a very uneventful trip here." She smiled at me with that brilliant smile.
"Well, to be safe, I am going to hang around for a bit. Have you found a place to stay tonight?" I asked as Jenny was sitting plates in front of me.
"No, I stopped here as soon as I got to town. I planned to find a place to stay after I finished here." She answered.
"Well, the pack owns a house, not to far from here. Wayne said you were welcome to use it while you are here." I told her as I waved to Jenny to bring me the spare key the pack leaves at the diner. She brings me the envelop with the key.
"This is a key for the house." I told her as I handed it to her.
"That is very kind, But you guys don't have to do that." She replied stunned by my offer.
"Nonsense, I will be staying there, while I am here, too. We would never let a friend of the pack stay in the lodge." I told her.
Jenny came over to check on us, and Aroura asked for her bill. Jenny smiled and winked at her.
"Darling, he already put it on his, and paid. You have to be on your toes with Crestmoon men. She told Aroura.
I looked at Jenny. "She will be staying at our house in town, maybe you and your friends could come by for a visit later."
"That would be great." She replied excited. "We were hoping to find a place to ritual tonight."
Aroura just looked at us, not understanding what we were talking about as Jenny walked away with a wave.
"Are you ready to get settled in, and rest?" I asked her as I stood to leave.
"Yes, I really could use a bath , and maybe a nap." She laughed.
I laughed. "Well then let's go and I will show you where the house is."
I offered to carry her pack because it looked heavy, but she refused. She is pretty tough due to being on her own so long. The house was closer to the edge of town in a secluded area near the forest, so it took us about twenty minutes to walk there. Aroura was stunned taking in her surroundings when I finally spoke up. "Ready to go in?"
She nodded and followed me in. "We have the house to ourselves, so you can pick a room on the second floor." I told her while showing her around.
She thanked me and walked up stairs. She picked the second room on the left. I found it fitting that she picked the spring night room. Luna Karrie had a color scheme to match the seasons for each room. She took great care in decorating this house, just like she did the pack house. She is a very caring Luna, and she has extended that to Aroura. She has staff bring food and supplies to make sure Aroura is comfortable.
I am alerted to the arrival of some of Jenny's coven by the knock at the door. I opened the door to find two of my close friends.
"Hello Beth. Hello Tami. How are you ladies?" I greeted them.
"So, is it true? Is the traveler really here?" Beth asked excitedly.
"Is she as powerful as they say? I bet she is so wise. I can't wait to learn from her." Tami chimed in.
"Whoa, slow down ladies. Yes, she is here, but you can't say anything about the legend. She is actually here to learn from you." I tried to explain the situation to them.
"Learn from us? She is directly descended of the goddess. What could we teach her?" Beth looked confused.
"I will show you, but first, no mention of werewolves, or magic, not yet. Jenny will explain better. But try not to act completely shocked . Don't scare her." I told them , leading them to Aroura's room.
"Jerry, you are acting weird. What are you talking about?" Tami asked as we walked up stairs.
"You will see." I told her.
I knocked on her door and waited for her to answer. When she opened the door I introduce her to the ladies. " I just wanted to introduce you to a couple of friends, this is Beth, and this is Tami."
"Nice to meet you both." She said with a smile.
"We have to get ready for the gathering Jenny is having tonight. Make yourself at home. I will be back in a bit." I told her.
"Thank you. I was just thinking about freshening up and maybe resting a while." She told me.
As she closed the door, I could see the questions brewing in their faces. I motioned for them to follow me downstairs, before they asked any.
"She is so young. Are you sure she is the traveler?" Tami asked.
"Yes, she is. It is early in her journey. She just took the girl to Waterfall Crest. The oracles confirmed it." I answered.
"But she is a child, how is she the most powerful witch ever to live? How does she not know?" Beth questioned.
"She is here for Jenny to help her learn. Her family is under a binding spell. She was told she was human. She knows nothing of our world." I tried to explain .
"So, we are at the beginning of the legend?" Tami asked.
"Yes, we are supposed to help her discover part of her path. To help her start to learn about who she is." I told them. "This is the start of her journey, she doesn't know about the legend, and we can't tell her. She must discover many things on her own."
This ritual is an important event in her journey, so I sent them to prepare everything. Wayne sent pack members to help set up tables and prepare food. While they do that I help stack wood for the bonfire. Jenny arrives while I am working.
"Hey Jerry. I have everything ready for tonight. I will need to speak with Aroura before the ritual." She told me.
"I figured you would. I would assume that there is a reason she was sent to meet you." I responded. "Once the fire is lite, and everything is set, I will go invite her to join us."
About the time the sun began to set, guests were beginning to arrive and Jenny lite the ritual fire. Part of me was excited to be a part of this history, but part of me was sad for the hardship ahead for this child. I made my way inside to invite her to join us. I walked upstairs and knocked on her door. I waited a few minutes and knocked again, beginning to worry when she didn't answer the first time. The door opens to reveal Aroura looking half asleep.
"Sorry, I fell asleep." She told me.
"It's ok. I was just a bit concerned when you didn't answer the first time I knocked." I told her relieved she was alright. "So, I am supposed to invite you to join us for the full moon ritual."
"I see. I am not sure what that is, but I feel like I am supposed to be there." She told me thoughtfully.
"We will all be outside when you are ready to join us." I told her as I headed back downstairs.
Jenny POV
I see Aroura step outside, and stop with a dazed look on her face. She had most likely had a premonition of the ritual. I walk over to talk to her.
"I was wondering if you would join us to talk for a bit?" I asked her.
She nodded and followed me over to a table I had set up not far from the fire. Tami and Beth were already seated waiting on us. They were both already in their ritual robes.
"Hello Ladies." Aroura greeted them.
"Please have a seat. There are some things that you need to know. You were drawn to this place so you could learn about yourself. Let me start by letting you know, you are among your own kind here, and hopefully by dawn you will understand better." Jenny told me.
"You are among the Dawning Star Coven, we have invited a few packs to join us tonight, but this is our full moon ritual." Tami explained to her as she motioned to the gathering.
"We try to share our festivities with others among the goddess' creatures. We like to allow them the chance to give thanks and offerings to the goddess." Beth added.
"I don't understand what this had to do with me." She replied looking very confused.
"That is what I am here to explain to you. I can only tell you what you are meant to know now. There are things you must discover along your journey, but there is information you need to continue your journey." I began. "You are one of us, that is why you are drawn to nature. You are a witch. You are descended from a very old bloodline. That is why you were chosen for this journey. There were many things that Melody could have done to you, but she chose this for a reason." I continued. "I want to offer you the chance to learn about what it means to be a witch, and give you a chance to participate in the ritual tonight."
"The Alpha has agreed to let you stay here as long as you need for your journey ahead." Tami added.
I watched as she took in the information. Most would be shocked by what I just dumped on her, but she didn't look shocked. She looked curious.
"I am not going to pretend I understand everything that is happening, but I will join you tonight, and I will stay here to study what you want to teach me." She finally told us.
"Great." I exclaimed with a smile. "We brought you a ritual robe. This is yours to keep." I said as I handed her a silver robe with golden trim.
"Why are the cloaks different?" She asked.
"Our robes represent our bloodline." Tami replied.
"For example, my family is a younger bloodline, so my robe is white. Jenny is from a slightly older bloodline so hers is blue." Beth tried to explain.
We helped her put her robe on, all careful not to mention that the silver robe belongs only to the first bloodline. Everyone who sees it will know, she is from the first bloodline, but she isn't meant to know yet. We lead the way to start the ritual. The witches of the coven surround the fire to open the circle to the goddess. I tell her she can join the chant as she learns the words. As the ritual went on I noticed her feeling more comfortable. Then I saw a magnificent sight. Her magic slowly awakened. Not at full strength but enough to show the binding spell can't hold her. Her hands began to glow emerald green. We all encourage her to continue. After the ritual was over, I explained what the glowing was to her. I explained that for now her powers are limited, but with time she would understand more.
While I was talking to Aroura there was a commotion at the lower end of the property. Jerry took some other pack members to deal with it. I see my cousin, who has chosen to be a rogue, heading up towards us. I caution Aroura to be careful around him.
"I am Timothy, who may I ask is this beautiful creature?" He asked me, turning on his charm.
"I am Aroura, nice to meet you, Timothy." She replied being nice to him.
"Silver, that's pretty impressive." He said.
I could tell he was making her uncomfortable, but before I could speak Jerry came over.
"Would you join me for a drink, Aroura?" He asked.
"Yes, that would be nice, Jerry." She answered quickly and excused herself.
Jerry POV
I saw Timothy looking at Aroura's robe. It made me uncomfortable, so I went over to help her get away.
"Would you join me for a drink, Aroura?"
"Yes, that would be nice, Jerry." She replied.
I walked her over to a table across the yard. "Sorry, you looked very uncomfortable, so I figured I would help you out. You need to be careful of people. Some will just want to possess you because of what you are." I cautioned her.
"Thank you so much. I felt very uncomfortable with the way he was looking at me." She told me.
Hey, I see you made it this far." I heard Alpha Kal speak to Aroura.
"I see you have met Alpha Kal." I said to her.
"Yes, we met while I was taking my friend to Waterfall Crest." She smiled at me.
We stood there talking with Alpha Kal. Kal and I tried to stress to her the importance of trusting her instincts. I expressed that there would always be danger, and that she should not show people her robe unless it was at a ritual. The silver robe made her a target. The festival was over and she was exhausted. She excused herself to go to sleep. I am actually looking forward to having the chance to get to know her while she studies with Jenny.
