chapter 4

The journey to London had been tiring and uncomfortable. I had never flown before so I was nervous, but after a while, the meds I took made me relax. I woke up when Michael said we were going to land. They lived near the airport, in an old and very large house. Inside, everything was very light and airy. Davina was waiting for us in the entrance hall and smiled hugely when she saw me.

- Alice, welcome. Michael told me about what happened and I just want you to forget about it. You are safe with us. Everything will be fine.

Davina took me by the hand and pulled me up the stairs, I looked back at Michael and he just smiled and shrugged. In the hallway, Davina led me to a double wooden door.

-This was one of our guest rooms. I fixed it, but if there's anything you want to change, just let me know.

-All right.

We entered through the double doors and the room was huge. It had white brick walls and one painted blue wall, where a huge bed was filled with pillows. The closet was the size of my old bedroom, and through one of the closet doors, I saw a bathroom, with two sinks and a whirlpool tub. Who needs two sinks. And a hydro in the bathroom.

-It is wonderful. I never imagined that you would do so much for me. Thanks. Thank you.

-No, Sophie is at school now and I want to know if you would like to attend school with her. And then?

-Yes Yes.

-Well, I know it will only be half a year until you finish, and then you can do whatever you want. How is everything? So great, tomorrow you will start. When I go to pick them up today, I'll sign you up and pick up your uniform.

Davina came out of the room super excited and I sat down. When I looked at the door, there it was, Michael leaning against the threshold and looking at me.

-You know you don't have to stay there, you can come in.

-I'm not used to entering a lady's room without asking permission first.

-Well, you can come in.

-Alie, I wanted to give you this. - Said Michael taking a new cell phone from his pocket. - It's for you to contact me if you want to talk about something. We had to change your number, I don't want Pearl to know where you are, I'm afraid she'll do something to harm you.

Everything is fine.

He sighed and got up from the bed.

-Mike? I called holding his hand.

-Speech.

-I don't know what to say to all of you, just... thank you for saving me, for getting me out of there. I knew I could trust you.

-I just did the right thing. - He said kissing my cheek and leaving the room.

After taking my clothes out of my bag and putting them in the closet, I realized I didn't have much. Most of the clothes I wore, Jhon bought me, looked like silly sexy doll costumes. That wasn't me. I grabbed a white t-shirt and jeans and headed towards the bathroom. I took a shower, not yet ready to find out how the hydro worked. I washed my hair with my strawberry shampoo and symbolically took from my body all the suffering I had already been through. After the shower I went downstairs and found Sophie. From what I knew when I was younger, Davina couldn't have children, so they were both adopted. I didn't remember much about Davina because she was one of my mom's friends. Sophie was from New Orleans. She was a girl with long curly hair and powerful facial features. She was delighted to find me after all this time.

She told me that Mike's girlfriend, Susana, was a tall, beautiful blonde, but extremely rude to everyone. She would later pay a visit and I would meet her in person.
