I forced a smile, suppressing the urge to roll my eyes. I didn’t want to answer him because it wouldn’t be pleasant.
He reached for the coffee and took a sip, his expression shifting slightly. "What's this? Did you add sugar?" he asked, his tone suddenly harsh.
Confusion swirled inside me as I tried to process his reaction. "Yes, I thought you might like it sweet," I stammered, feeling a knot of anxiety forming in my stomach.
Damien's glare intensified, sending a shiver down my spine. "Take this out and dump it in the nearest bin. And get me a proper coffee, without sugar," he commanded, his voice cutting through the air like a knife.
Without a word of argument, I snatched up the coffee and hurried out of the office. That jerk, and now I have to walk all over across the street for coffee again.
Soon as I got there, I got a coffee without sugar, as I rushed back again to give it to him. Soon as I walked into the office, I could see that he was standing by the window with his phone to his ear.
I placed the coffee on the table and hurriedly walked out of the office. Soon as I got into my office, I breathed a sigh of relief as I sank into my chair.
Just as I was about to pick up my phone.
“Ariana !!!!” I heard as Damien screamed out my name. At that moment, it felt like my heart was leaping out of my chest.
Rushing out of my office, I ran to Damien's office without caring to knock.
Soon as I opened the door, I could see Damien breathing hard. He stared at me with so much anger.
“You insolent girl,” he snapped at me. All I could think of was what I had done wrong.
I stood still as he glared at me, wondering why he had just called me insolent. As far as I knew, I did nothing wrong but brought the coffee he ordered.
“Is something the matter?” I asked.
“All I asked for was a simple coffee, but guess what? I couldn’t have that,” he snapped at me. It was shocking, as I wasn’t expecting the response. I felt like there was something behind his attitude and this had nothing to do with coffee.
“I got what you wanted, you asked for no sugar,” I replied.
“Well, guess what, I like my coffee without milk,” he responded, and I tried so hard not to roll my eyes. Just as I decided to give him a piece of my mind, I wasn’t going to stand here and watch him belittle me to nothing. I was interrupted when the door opened and a beautiful brunette walked in.
She was stunning. She was six feet tall, and her height made her seem like a model. Her long, endless legs seemed to stretch as far as they could go. Then there was her gown, it was just below her waist. I knew if she bent over, I would probably see her panties. Her skin was clear and even, and her hair was long, reaching down to her waist. For a second, I couldn’t help but be envious of her beauty.
As she walked past me, ignoring my existence, and as soon as Damien was within her reach, she grabbed him by his face and snatched her lips on his. I stood frozen, half expecting Damien to pull off, but he gave in as he kissed her deeply, not only that but he reached his hands to hee backside and gave it a squeeze.
I was half confused if I should leave because it seemed like I was invisible. Just as I was about to open the door, hee sharp voice cut through the air.
“You there, get me a coffee from down below,” the brunette said as I froze. Who was she to order me around like that? I breathed in as I turned to face her. She was sitting on Damien’s lap and playing with his hair. But one look at Damien I knew I didn’t want to piss him off, I was already on his bad book already I didn’t want to make it worse.
“What kind of coffee would you like?” I asked to avoid repeating what happened last time, not that it was my fault I had only done what was right.
“Cappuccino, with a little bit of sugar,” she replied casually while waving her hands at me as if she wanted me to leave immediately.
With a heavy sigh, I headed out to get her coffee. Just as I waved past Leo's office, he emerged with a set of files in his hands.
“Hey, Leo, where have you been?” I inquired.
“I was downstairs taking care of something. Was there a need for me?” he asked.
“Nothing, it's just that I am beginning to think my only job in this office is getting coffee,” I replied.
He let out a laugh as he adjusted his glasses.
“It shouldn’t be hard. I mean, you could just get it from the canteen on the tenth floor,” he said, and I froze.
“What the hell did he mean by a canteen in this building?” I inquired, I was confused the gir was earlier had told me to go across the road to get coffee.
“Just go to the tenth floor, you will have what your looking for” he replied.
“Well, off I go. I have to deliver this to the financial unit,” he added as he walked away. I just got to realize that the girl who I had asked for directions earlier was either playing me or she had no idea at all.
Just as Leo directed, I found myself in the canteen and saw workers scattered about, enjoying their meal and coffee.
I approached the counter and noticed the girl who had directed me earlier sitting with a group of girls, giggling at each other. I knew she must have played me. She probably knew that there was a canteen in the building but decided to mislead me instead.
After I ordered the coffee, I headed to the elevator. Just as I was about to step inside, the girl and her friends joined me.
I ignored them as I held tight to my coffee.
“How did you manage to become the boss’s secretary?” one of them asked.
I shot her a sharp look before responding, “Maybe you can ask the boss once you see him,” I replied, and I watched as they glared at me.
“You're probably not going to last a week, girl, mark my words,” one of the girls said. Soon the elevator stopped, and they stepped out, still glaring at me.
I know the look of envy when I see one. The thought takes me back to my ex-boyfriend, Sean. He had just graduated from college, and due to his family connection, he got a job at a firm. He would take me out on several occasions, and I always got stares of envy from other girls who saw me as a low-class girl.
Sean would always tell me not to mind them as they were jealous, but our relationship had only lasted six months before I discovered he was having an affair with his boss. I remember going to his house to surprise him for Valentine's Day when I heard sounds of moans coming from his room, and it dawned on me that he was indeed having an affair with his boss.
I remember how we got into a huge fight and how he told me I meant nothing to him and that I was just a liability and a parasite feeding off him. I broke down for weeks, that was until my mother told me two weeks later she was getting married, and we were suddenly leaving our lives behind.
Soon the elevator opened, and I stepped out of it. Soon I was approaching the office, and I could hear sounds coming from the office. I assumed it was nothing as I went along to knock.
I didn’t hear Damien's voice telling me to come in. I opened the door and stepped in. It's not like he could do anything to me. What I saw in front of me made the coffee fall from my hands.
In front of me was Damien, bending the lady from earlier over his office desk as he pounded inside her. They seemed so lost in their act that they didn’t notice my appearance in the door, or if they did, they probably didn’t care.
I knew he saw me when he looked up at me as he pounded into her and smirked at me.
