Life returns gradually to normal, at least James and I do our joint best to make it appear so to Charlotte. She grows stronger and more hale day by day and whatever lies still to be resolved between me and James, we don’t want her troubled by it.
And so, while she is around, we do our best to chat, keeping up a normal banter….
I’m not sure it works.
I see her sometimes, looking between us, chewing her lower lip….

But if we both want to keep her….

…. then somehow, James and I must settle our differences.
