Chapter 3 Oisin lay on his back and stared up at the stars. He was sitting half way down the hill, behind the palace, lying amid the cool green grass that grew somehow without ever seeing the sun. A sprite drifted up to him, probably a wild one, and he shooed it away. He wanted to be alone tonight. That was why he’d left the palace, with its swarms of house sprites, and with Bel lurking somewhere unknown within. He’d spent a lot of time alone in his life. Despite coming from a massive family, he’d been the youngest, and so his siblings had all been occupied with different things. By the time he’d been independent enough to not need constant care the older ones were all married, and the younger were busy with working the farm, so he’d been left to his own devices often.
