Chapter 6 The world seemed to slow. Oisin could see every detail, but even though he was standing right beside Bel, he could do nothing, he seemed to move at a snail’s pace. He saw Bel’s silver eyes go wide in shock and pain. He saw Caydren’s hateful snarl turn to a grin of dark delight. He saw the sharpened length of wood go through Bel like a spear, the point emerging from his back even as he began to fall. “Bel! No!” Oisin turned, ever so slowly, trying to catch Bel, who went to his knees, his pale hands suddenly shockingly covered in dark blood as they clutched at the length of wood standing out from his chest. The spreading stain on his back where the point stuck out was dying his silver hair vivid crimson. Caydren stood over him, laughing madly, and pulled his knife from his belt.
