“Out front please” I tell him and I shut my eyes and take a breath trying to burn the blanket of grief that was suffocating me. It’s no wonder she tried to run away from the pain, it’s so overwhelming. But I had to be stronger for her, I had to let him go, I had to make peace with what happened. I take one last breath and I get up, lifting her into my arms, she starts to mumble and whimper, her body was now smoking hot, sweat run from every pore as I carried her outside.
