Gavin grabs my hand, linking his fingers with my own. I smile squeezing his hand before resting my head on his shoulder.
“What do you mean the most powerful?”
Gerald asks taking a seat and pulling Adlai onto his knee
“I don’t know how to describe it, it’s like an extra strength locked behind a wall in her soul, only ever released under pressure”
“I seen it today, it was like witch power on steroids”
I tell them
“Yeah that’s a good way to put it, it’s like her gifts can be amplified for a few minutes, I mean like amplified”
“I don’t understand”
Gerald asks
“I watched her make every vein on her body explode, it was like her flesh fell of her body and left behind was a skeleton with blood on it. I don’t know how to discride it other than that”
They all look at me confused
“Just go see the bodies when we are done here, I’m going to leave them out there for the pack to see what she’s capable of. See how fast the bastards kneel then”
I snap, gavin growls
“Oh they will kneel, they will kneel when I weddle out every single coward in this pack and I execute them in public”
“Yeah let’s make a show of it, they won’t question our choices ever again”
I reply looking at him, he smiles at me with his big bright eyes. How I had resisted him all these years was beyond me, but I’m glad she stuck a poker up both of our asses. She really has shown me who is important and who is not. Him being 1 of the 2 most important people in my life
“So does that mean gavin will be alpha too?”
Mum asks, gavin snorts shaking his head
“Yes he will”
He freezes looking at me wide eyed
“What? No way, I don’t need that”
I roll my eyes at him
“And I don’t need a mate who has to submit to me. You become alpha and we all become equal. It’s the only way forward, you will not stay on as beta”
He groans, pouting like a big baby
“But it’s already so much work being beta”
I snort shaking my head
“Not if we get a new beta and give him all the hard work then all we have to do is split the alpha position into 3”
His head snaps to me, giving me a devious smile
“Well in that case your on, who’s going to be beta?”
“I don’t know alpha, why don’t you make that decision?”
His jaw drops, his cheeks redden just slightly but then he grins
“It’s got to be kole”
I growl at him
“You are not promoting your damn crush, choose someone else”
“Aw come on, that’s not why I’m promoting him”
“Give me 3 good reasons then?”
I ask clearly irritated by the idea
“He works really really really hard when he’s training”
Deek facepalms shaking his head as Adlai and mum start to laugh
“Plus he’s got this thing going for him when he shouts, everyone pays attention when he opens his mouth and Ofcourse we can’t forget that he’s gay and he won’t fancy heartly”
They all crack up laughing as I screw my nose up shaking my head
“Hell no, other than the last one they are all horrible reasons, choose someone ugly”
“You can not be that jealous”
Dad laughs, I shake my head
“I’m not jealous but I’ve waited 18 years for them both and I had to watch him move on without me, I’m allowed to be possessive of them both”
Gavin grins
“I just looked; I never touched”
“You haven’t touched a soul in 18 years?”
Mum asks wide eyed, he shakes his head surprising me too
“No, I may think they are hot but even thinking about touching anyone else made me sick”
I grin at him, he was the perfect distraction from all the drama and fear but strangely after finding out the reason why today happened I was less fearful. Infact I was confident that it would all work out.
We talk for a while only stopping when Carter clears his throat and he jumps up
“Carly said they are finishing up now. They are moving to a new room”
I jump up taking gavins hand and I rush out of the room, I could feel everyone’s burning stares but I didn’t care. I had hid gavin for 7 years and I would never hide him again.
“Damn your really saying this is on aren’t you”
He asks me, I look back at him stopping in the middle of the hallway infront of everyone and I slam my lips against his. He freezes in shock as our lips touch, the feeling exploding across my face, the tingles even more intense than what they were before.
but soon his entire body relaxes, pushing back against me he kisses me back softly before I pull away slightly.
“I am all in, let’s go get our girl?”
He pecks my lips then smiles against them
“I love the sound of that”
He whispers, squeezing my hand
“Lead the way”
As I pull back I look at the crowd in the waiting room all of them in shock, but as I make eye contact all of them drop their gaze and pretend to be busy making gavin chuckle.
“Come on, I want to be the first people she sees when she wakes up”
We sit in heartly’s new room in silence waiting for her, we had been waiting for around 30 minutes when they finally wheeled her back in. She looked like absolute hell, half her face was swollen and bruised, her nose and eyes were black, her lips swollen, she had dried blood in her hair. Her complexion was off, clearly low on blood.
“She lost her womb and ovaries, she had a cracked skull, broken nose, broken ribs, everything is back in order, she is healed but she needs blood and rest, her body will ache with the bruising but she will be ok”
“How the hell did they manage to inflict this much damage in such a short amount of time?”
Gavin whispers, his eyes glassy as he looks at her tiny body, her frame was so small burried under the mountain of blankets, drips of fluids and blood hung in every direction. She looked so vulnerable.
“How long did they have her?”
Adlai asks, I look to my parents and Carter
