“No there must be a mistake, your lying, he’s alive, he’s alive” I said searching his eyes for something before crumpling on the floor in tears, mascara running down my face as I cried, after what seemed like hours I finally got up, packed my bag and we left driving straight home, as we approached the house, black smoke against the night sky, everybody was standing outside, the casualties were laid on the ground wrapped in white sheets all four of them “I want him to have an Alphas burial, one that is fitting for him, for the Alpha he should have been” I said tears streaming down my face again, “where Jay, Jay” said Max who appeared behind me, I turned around scoping him up in my arms “Jay, Jays gone, he went to be with mummy and daddy" I said as he wiped away the tears “Chris you were right, I never should have gone” I said letting out a howl. The next day was the burial, afterwards I locked myself in my room, I went into the bathroom and locked that door as well, and I sat down with my back against the door, I felt like rubbish ever since this morning all I knew was that it wasn’t the burial, I had cried every last tear.
At the pack meeting that night, I sat there quietly not paying attention, Jackson was talking about what had started the fire, “wolves from a neighbouring pack where seen on our land before the fire, they were taken into custody, and were trying to find out more from them” Jackson said giving everybody a reassuring look “everybody, is safe” Chris said standing up, everybody was quite again, anger started to rise in me, if a pack was responsible for killing my brother I was going to kill them all. As soon as the meeting was over, I dragged Chris up to our room “what pack” I said locking the door behind up “lil, it doesn’t concern you, I’m dealing with it” he said with a guilty face “it Nickolas isn’t it, I’m going to find out why for myself” I said walking to the door and nearly pulling it off its hinges as I unlocked and wrenched it open “Lily I said I was dealing with it, don’t make me command you” he said walking out after me “don’t you even dare, I thought I meant more to you than for you to treat me like an Omega” I spat at him before storming off. Chris followed me down to the cells “where are they” I said walking in. I stopped in front of one of the cells. I spent five minutes looking into their eyes, the two off them were drugged on wolfs bane “what are your names and what pack do you come from” I said about to step into the cage when Chris barred my way with his arm, the guy looked up at me and spat, he looked middle aged with a shaved head and tattoos covering most of his body, the woman was covered in dirt, her hair was blonde once but now was dull and greyish she also looked middle aged “what are your names, and who is your leader” Chris bellowed from behind me, they both didn’t answer again, “here let me try again” I said lowly “Kakovy vashi imena i kto vash lider” I said in Russian, both their heads snapped upwards “Teper'” I shouted “Isaac and Sofia” they said bowing their heads they had heavy Russian accents like Nickolas “my sluzhim Nickolas” they said raising their heads a little, “Vy nachali ogon'” I said in a low voice “my vypolnyali prikaz” said the woman, a smile on her face, something inside me felt like it was breaking "Sushchestvuyet burya . Tol'ko sil'neyshiye vyzhivut” the woman said as I turned around and ran.
I ran into the kitchen and plopped down against the kitchen cabinets, I put my head in my hands, I heard little feet running towards me “lil, lil game” Max pulled my face to look at him “no I’m not playing a game, but we’re going to see uncle Toni” I said pulling Max onto my lap, I walked into the laundry and grabbed a bag, spare clothes and shoes out of the store cupboard, I walked to the garage and looked at the wall, about 30 sets of keys hung on it, I grabbed a pair and looked at it, the big Jeep at the far end belonged to the keys, I put Max in before jumping in myself, I pulled out of the garage and was half way down the drive before, Chris came bolting across the grass, I pushed down the accelerator and I was away before Chris came even close.
