AURORA’S POV
I jolted awake, my heart racing as my phone buzzed on the nightstand. Groggy and disoriented, I squinted at the screen, my eyes struggling to focus on the incoming call from an unknown number. I glanced at the 3:16 AM clock and contemplated whether I should let it go to voicemail or answer. Glancing over at Silas’s silent form, I sat up, shaking him awake, the feeling that something or someone important was on the other line.
He jumped awake, looking around wildly as I answered the phone. “Hello?”
He looked wary at me, still curious why I had woken him. The voice on the other side had my jaw dropping. “Hello, Aurora.”
“Lucas.”
Silas’s eyes widened as he snatched the phone from me and growled into the phone. “Where are you so I can rip your head off?”
