Chapter 8 SUNDAY MORNING THEY slept a little late, but were in church in time for Tom to play the postlude for the nine o’clock service. The rector of the church, in his announcements of the day, advised those assembled that the postlude was being played by Dr. Foster, who would be performing in concert later in the afternoon. After the nine o’clock service was over, Noah and Tom relaxed in an anteroom off the choir room until it was time for the eleven-fifteen service to begin. They took their places in the front pews for that service, and it was an eye-opener. The Church of the Advent was very high church, almost Anglo-Catholic in its observance of the Eucharist.
