Thomas recognized the place—he’d seen it when hiking to the Moa‘ula waterfall the day before with Kai. It was a fortunate location—not that far from his Uncle Mauna’s house. But it wouldn’t be an easy hike, and he didn’t think his tutu was in condition to make the trip. As for Jose, the young man made it clear he wasn’t leaving the dolphins. Thomas would have to leave them both, and hike up alone. So, after telling the dolphins to stay quiet, and finding a copse of willow trees where his tutu and Jose could rest and remain hidden in case Julian came back this way, Thomas set off up the trail.
