Night was falling, and Thomas and Eva decided that despite all the excitement and the sheriff’s admonishments to get to higher ground, their original plan to stay on the beach next to the dolphins was still a good one. After all, the Navy were still on the lookout for the dolphins, as the sheriff had said. So, leaving Mel, Luahine, Axel, and Jose to sleep on the Aggressor, Eva and Thomas swam back to the beach. To their surprise, Rascal insisted on coming with them. The dog was a strong swimmer and apparently wanted to be close to his friend Finn.
