Dan rose at 5:00 am. His first meeting was not until 6:30, but he liked to be meticulously prepared for the day.
He had considered taking up residency in the White House, as a symbol of power, but decided against it. The Vice-Presidential mansion was larger and nicer, more suited for getting a big job done. There no longer was an office of VP, so it had no other purpose. The White House needed to be converted to the new Executive Council office. Never again should so much power be in the hands of an individual. What if he went crazy; the performance of the last ever president would long be a reminder of that.
