EMMA
Oh God, Oh God, I can't breathe! My kids, where are my kids?
"Emma?"
My vision slightly cleared and I turn to see Dave staring at me. Scratch that, everyone is staring at me as though I’m a mentally deranged person who just escaped from the asylum.
"Did you see them? Did you see my kids?" I say, in utmost manic.
"The girls and Lucien?" He asks, and I nod, crying, letting the fact sink in, that my children have been kidn*pped.
"I have to go," I say, and push through the crowd that has formed. How come no one saw my children while they were taken in broad daylight?
"Emma!" I hear, but I don't turn back, I get in my car and drive away.
God, please, let my kids be safe.
______
"We have gotten their description, we will let you know when we have any information," The policeman says to me, and my eyes widen.
"What? Just like that?" I snap.
"What did you expect?"
"I don't know. I got a f*****g note, the kidnapper threatened to kill Rosaline and traumatize her siblings, I would expect more than this. A search party, maybe?" I didn't know when my voice rose by an octave.
"You could check the note for f*****g fingerprints, you could do so much more, and you chose to sit here while my children suffer in the den of a psychopath!"
The words tumble out of my mouth like arrows during a war. Nothing matters more than my kids, and screaming at a policeman is certainly a part of that list.
"Calm down, or I will have security escort you out," A policewoman speaks up and I glare at them, having the urge to rip their heads off.
"Cowards! A bunch of lazy motherfucking cowards!” I say, baring my teeth.
"Careful," Another officer threatens and I glare ferociously at them, making sure they see my eyes change colour.
"If as much as a strand of hair is missing from my kids', I will burn this place down, and that is a f*****g PROMISE!" I scream and walk out, sure of my next destination.
____
"Emmaline," Alpha Oliver says as I walk into his home, escorted by his guards.
"Alpha," I say, seething with anger, but not at him, so I bow my head in respect.
"I sent my guards to call you, I see you were already on your way," He says, and I stare at him.
"Why did you send your guards to me? Is it about my children?" I speak and bow in acknowledgement of the Luna, Beta, and Omega, who are also present.
"Yes, but not that. I heard about what happened at the police station. And I must say, Emmaline, that I am very disappointed," He says, and I tilt my head at him but stay silent.
"Why would you create a scene and expose yourself like that? You have always been so kind and gentle,"
I stare at him, then at his Wife, resisting the urge to laugh.
"I just want my kids back," I say, respectfully.
"You will have to apologize," The Beta -- Phillip— says, and I gaze at him like has suddenly grown two heads.
"Yes, Emmaline," Luna says.
"We have a very good relationship with the humans, and you should not ruin it, don't throw tantrums,”
"Tantrums," I say with a nod, my blood boiling.
"It's quite funny, that since I have entered this room, you have said nothing about my triplets,"
"Oh come on, Emmaline. They are kids, they could just be playing hide and seek or something," Richard, the Omega, says, and they all nodded with a light laugh. The feral part of me threatens to take over and I suppress it with much difficulty.
"Emma," I say, and they look at me.
"What?" The Alpha says.
"My name is Emma, not Emmaline, and I hope you all burn in hell. Darling Luna, let's say it was Caleb and Cornelia, would you sit on your fake throne?"
"Emma," She says, her cheeks turning red.
"Just go home and rest, you need to sleep. By tomorrow, a search party will be organized and the note will be sent to a proficient lab,"
"Go home, Emma," The Alpha says, and I get up, say nothing, then stormed out.
_____
"Emma," I hear and groan. Can the whole world just f**k off? I need to think fast and find my kids.
"Emma!" I hear again and turn back to see it is Flora.
"Hi, Flora," I say, staring at the street in hopes of seeing anything that will lead me to my kids.
"I heard about the triplets, I am so sorry," She says and I nod curtly.
"I should get going," I turn on my heels, heading to my house.
"We understand if you will need some days off, and we are all praying for you -- "
"f**k you, Flora," I snap.
"f**k you and f**k everyone, my children are not dead, they are missing, they are also strong so they will come back to me," The words are directed at her but it feels like I am reassuring myself instead.
"I am sorry if I sounded insensitive. There's this woman that I know, she is a mage, and perhaps she could track the children for you,”
I stare at her like she has gone insane.
"A witch? Seriously, Flora? Goodbye,”
I walk away, but she jogs up to me.
"If you wouldn't see the Mage, you should at least talk to their father," She says and walks away, leaving me stunned.
I haven't spoken to Gabe since I told him I was pregnant, that was eight years ago. But if confronting Gabe Salvatore means it’ll lead me to my children, then I’ll be damned to let that option slip through my fingers.
_____
I choke back the tears, but they are so strong that I feel them ripping a hole in my heart.
"Oh God!” My breaths came out in quick gasps, knowing that my kids wouldn't want me crying.
I stay silent as I sit in the dark, reminiscing about the beautiful days I had with my kids, and more beautiful days ahead, hopefully. My thought also drifts to Gabe and to what Flora said, I would bend backwards to get my kids back.
I am still picturing them in my mind when a pair of strong arms grip me and throw me backwards violently. A masked man is pinning my body to the ground, his claw digging into my neck.
Someone is trying to kill me, probably the same person who took my children. Absolutely not.
I wrap my hand around the one on my throat and dig my fingers in, tearing flesh off. He yells in pain as I push him backwards, and he hits the ground with a loud thud.
"f*****g b***h!” He says and gets up then pulls off his mask and spits on the floor. I stare at the unfamiliar figure before me.
"Where are my kids?" I yell, jumping on him, tackling him to the ground and baring my teeth to bite him when he shoves me backwards, so hard that I feel something break.
He drags me by my hair to the living room and punches me repeatedly in the stomach. The snapping sounds of my now fractured bones resounded in my brain and blood profusely gushed from my mouth.
I kick his stomach, but he doesn't flinch. Who the f**k is this? I feel myself begin to give up when he punches me in the chest. With all the power in me, I push him backwards, rip out my table's leg, and throw it directly into his chest.
I walk to him and bite out his neck. A wail of pain escaped from his lips.
"Who the f**k are you?" I yell, and he laughs.
"This is not your fight, you're just a ploy,” He smiles, and before I can blink, he pulls out a lighter and sets himself on fire.
______
I sit on the plane with my heart in my throat. I don an oversized blue hoodie to hide most of my wounds. Thankfully, I could still manage since the fractures weren't severe.
I still can not believe that man blew up my sitting room, him with it. I grabbed what I could, washed myself and booked a last-minute flight to Chicago.
Deep down, I know that my kids are not in New York, and with what that man said, it could be Gabe's.
"Ma'am, this is for you," An air stewardess hands me a glass of wine and a note. I did order the wine, but what is the note all about?
I watch her walk away and then open the note ---- Never seen a woman who could end Slavio, but I should have known Emma Kendrick would. Camilla is my favourite, Lucien and Rosaline, the strongest, well, for now. I paved the road you're walking on, darling. See you soon, Tick, Tock.
I stare round the plane in fear, wondering who he is and what the actual f**k is going on. I spend the next eleven hours in fear and hope that my children will be fine.
_______
I tug my hoodie down to cover the scar on my wrist as I walk towards his mansion. Gabriel Salvatore is the Alpha of The Chicago Pack, that is quite a position.
He lives in mansion, one where his Godfather, the late Alpha -- Cavill Dominico lived. I grit my teeth when I see the guards standing by the huge gates.
Damn him, he is living in affluence while his children are suffering.
"I am here to see Gabe," I say, and the six of them stare at me, I just called their Alpha by his name.
"Tell him Emma is here," I add, but they don't budge.
"You can not keep me out, I will get in, one way or the other, so you might spare yourself the stress and reprimand by letting me in,”
"Alpha is not around,” The brown-haired one says, walking closer to me.
"You should know how to lie better," I replied, feeling the hot boil of anger.
"Look, I have no time for this, so why not ju -- "
I am cut off by the gate opening, and a familiar face walking out -- April, Gabe's younger sister.
"Emma?" She say in shock and I just stare at her, while she gazes at me. I know how horrible I look in dirty black joggers and hoodie, sweating all over the place.
"Oh my God, Emma, how long has it been?” She squeals, taking my hands and tugging me inside. I dutifully give the guards my fingers.
"This is amazing, Gabriel is inside, and so are Carlino and Augustine,” She smiles and I nod, staring at the mansion, all the gold and s**t.
"I just need to talk to Gabe," I say, and she stares at me oddly, gazes at my clothing, and then stares at me with pity.
"I can walk, I know this place," I say and pulled away from her, I remember her clearly, telling Gabe to leave me.
"Well,” She laughs then gazes at my belly, does she think I have been pregnant for seven years? Just how demented can she be?
"Gabriel!" She sing-songs and right on cue, the grand double-door was pulled open.
"April, not now,” I hear and freeze. I haven't heard his voice in eight years, his last words to me were I should abort the pregnancy.
"There is an unexpected guest for you," She grins, obviously enjoying this.
"Sister!” I hear Augustine and then see him, he looks older.
"Emma?" Carly says when I came into sight, she liked me.
"Hi, Carlino. Augustine, you look well," I smile wryly at them, feeling self-conscious about my outfit.
"Emmaline, oh my God," Augustine gasps, walking toward me, I try not to glance at Gabe.
"You look so grown up," Carly says, and I smile.
"Hello,” A foreign voice says, walking closer to me.
"What brings you here, Emmaline? I am Esemerada, Gabe's fiancee,” She says, and I reply with nothing, connecting the dots.
She is his arranged mate, how splendid.
