The Shadow from the Past

I smell the breeze of the sea and the cold wind enveloped my body. I can hear the water splashing from the blue deep sea. There is no light at all in my area but the moon shines effulgently. I looked at it. "Hi, Selene. Thank you for letting me see you." I whispered. I can't help but admire its mere beauty.

I sat on the rock while throwing the small stones in the sea. I felt peace and serenity. It's almost an hour that I stayed here. I am nowhere to be found. I just went here without anyone. I need to unwind from the stressful environment that I have. I need a break. How cruel life must be? Am I not allow to be happy? I wanted to shout and release all the feelings that I felt right now. As the day passes by, the pain consumed my sanity. I continue to throw away the Peebles. There is a drizzle that dropped my bare shoulder. I decided to go back to the hotel that I occupied

"Ouch. " I said when I bumped someone on my way.

"Fiona?" "Lawrence?" we exclaimed. I was surprised to see him here. It's been a long time we met since our graduation. I didn't have any news about him.

"Whoah. It's you. What are you doing here?" he asked surprisingly? He is still the man that I used to love before.

"Nothing. Unwind I guess." I replied but without looking at him. He giggled.

"Oh, I see. Are you alone?"

"Yeah."

"How about let's eat breakfast tomorrow?" he said.

"Ha? Eeeeh."

"Com' on. Let's catch up. It's been a long time since we met." he said enthusiastically

"Okay," I said and left him. My heart palpitates so fast. Before I collapsed in front of him, I need to walk away. He is still the man that I want to have. He is the man that my heart wants.

Ash calling.........

"Hey, milady. Where are you?" Ash asked on the other line

"Hey. Secret. hahaha"

"Tsk. Crazy."

"I am not."

"Then, tell me where are you now."

"I can't. I am somewhere on a faraway island."

"What are you doing there? Why don't you tell me that you are leaving? At least I could be with you." he said

"You are busy, Ash. I don't want to bother you. Don't worry. I am doing great and enjoy the scenery. "

"You are so unfair."

"Of course, I am not. I am just being considerate on your scheduLe.hahaha"

"Whatever. I hate you."

"I hate you more. hahaha. I will buy some pasalubong for you."

"I don't need it."

"Bye... Ash. I am gonna sleep. Good night."

I sat on the Azotea in the room I occupied. I looked around the view. Some people are having a bonfire with their friends. Some are busy talking with their companions as well. I smiled. How I wish to do this with my friends.

Flashback.....

"Come on... Let's form a circle... Hurry up." Yllona said. It was late at night but they were still awake. They were having camping. Just the three of them.

"Yllona, you are silly. We are just three." Fiona said

"Let's play a game," Cassidy suggested

"Truth or dare " Yllona shouted

"Game." the three of them exclaimed.

"I have the bottle here." Yllona said

Yllona spinning the bottle

"Waaaah,, it's you Fionna." Yllona and Cassidy said

"Dare"

"Introduce yourself to someone that you will meet at the entrance of that villa and kiss him." Yllona said

"What? I can't"

"No no. You chose the Dare so you can't say no," Cassidy said. She had no choice is to follow what they ordered for her.

She walked towards that villa and a handsome man standing over there. He has this curly hair and expressive eyes. He looked harmless.

"Hi," she said. The man looked at him

"Hello" he replied in his deep baritone voice

"I am Manna" She introduced herself

"Ashton, nice meeting you Manna," he said and smiled at her. His smile was contagious and he became more handsome and sexy when the two dimples appeared on his cheek

"This is part of the game but can I kiss on your cheek?" she asked shyly. She was about to explode. That was their first meeting and after that Ashton and she became friends.

She smiled at that thought. Reminiscing how their friendship begins. Ashton is a nice guy. That woman he loves is so lucky to have him.

I was wearing my sundress which is above the knee, put a lip tint on my lips. I braid my long brownish hair. It's natural. I went downstairs.

"Good morning," Lawrence said and smile at me. He has this perfect smile that makes my heart beats so fast.

"Good morning," I replied.

We are eating our breakfast in the seafood cuisine. We both love eating seafood.

It was a great moment for me. He is still the same man that I used to love before. Afterward, we are walking on the seashore while talking with each other. I found out that he is still single. And here is my poor heart hopes again. I don't want to assume anymore. It was too much to ask... Stop heart.

Stop?" he asked hesitantly.

"No..No. Nothing." I said... Why does he look like this? He has this charming aura that I can't take off my eyes on him.

"Is there something wrong? Where is the bubbly Fiona? He said and grinned. He has this perfect smile that made her fall for him. If only he knows but he didn't.It is better that way or he knew but he pretended not.

We continue our walk in the seashore reminiscing the moments we had.

" How's your life, Yonna?" he asked me. He is the only one who calls me that name. I love how he called me that way. I felt so special. My young heart back then always long for his love and affection, not just as a friend or little sister but more than that.

"I am fine, I guess. Doing great. Trying to live a life without any complications." I replied

"It seems that you are not sure. Is there any problem? Is that the reason why you came here?" he retorted

"I just want to unwind and feel the breeze of the sea. I want to refresh myself again from the tiring work."

"Don't be too harsh with yourself. It is good that you will spend time with yourself and reward yourself for the job well done."

"That is what I am thinking about. Well, how about you? What are you doing here? I thought you are with someone that you love. hahaha"

"Hahaha silly, how I wish? But we broke up a few months ago. "

"Oh, I see. I am sorry. I should not bring it up. Is that a reason why you are here?" I said trying to cover the disappointment on my face.

"I am here for work matter."

"Oh, then you must be busy."

"I am free today. Don't worry. Do you have any plans today?"

"Not that much. I will go back to the city tomorrow. You know. I just ask for a 1-week leave"

"Too bad. There will be a party that I need to attend tonight. Can you come with me? What time you will leave tomorrow?"

"Hmmmmmp.. okay. I'll be leaving at 12:00 noon tomorrow."

"Thanks. You are still the same as before.The considerate and cute Yonna." he said and pinched my cheeks.

Flashback

While waiting for our professor in Oral Communication, I was reading my book without bothering looking at my classmates who were busy talking with our other classmates. I am not fond of talking with other people especially if they are new to me.

A few moments later, someone sat beside my chair. I continued reading when he poked me. I was about to give him my deadly stare but how can I? If I am facing the gods look like a man. He has this alluring dark brown eyes, thick eyebrows, long eyelashes, kissable lips who is smiling genuinely at me

"Y-yes? I stammered. I am run out of words.

" Nothing." he smiled again." You seem so serious," he said. "What are you reading."

"The story of Hades and Persephone," I said nonchalantly without looking at him and continue reading my book.

"Zion Lawrence Sandoval," he said introducing himself. He seemed to be a nice guy. He has this perfect smile so smiled back at him

"Fiona Meana Smith," I said. He pinched my cheeks and I exclaimed.

"Ouch," I said and slapped his hand. He just chuckled.

"You are cute when you smile. That is much better than creasing your forehead," he said. I blushed at what he said to me. I rarely smile at strangers that is why some thought I am a snob.

A few minutes later, our professor has arrived. I kept the book that I was reading a while ago. We gave the class cards and our index to our professor.

"Good afternoon. I am Mrs. Emerald Lopez and I'll be teaching you about Oral Communication. I only have one rule in my class, don't take this subject for granted, if you will then better to go out of this room. The door is wide open for you." she said.

ZL and I became friends. We were classmates in 2 subjects Oral Communication and Political Science. He was taking up a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering while I was taking up a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

"Wait for me here. I'll order our food. What do you want?" he said

"Hmmm. anything." I replied because I am not in the mood to eat. He was just persistent to eat our Lunch because it is unhealthy. He glared at me and I chuckled. He didn't like my reply.

"Fine. I'll just choose what you are going to eat," he said.

While waiting, I was busy reading a novel.

"Stop reading and let's eat. " He said and placed the food on the table. I pout.

"Stop it. You look like a duck. hahahahaha"

"You are mean," I exclaimed but I know he was just kidding.

"Of course, a beautiful duckling.hahaha."

"You bullied me, Ogre. hahaha." I counter-attacked. He didn't like it when I call him Ogre. hahaha"This is too many, ZL. I can't eat it all." I complained.

"Eat that. A lot of people have nothing to eat. And look at yourself, you are too thin. Eat now." he said just like my parents. And I can't help to smile. He looked so serious.

Since then we eat our lunch together. He waited for me so that we can eat our lunch together. Sometimes, if he was busy. He bought food for me so that I can eat on time.
