THE EXPLOSION IS EARTHSHAKING, a thunderous noise no one could have prepared for. The ground jolts.
They all think the roadside bomb has taken Unit Three’s SUV. But once the dust settles, they are able to survey their immediate area. They see the c*****e and the grim horror that has been sown.
Two EMS ambulances are literally blown to pieces. The paramedics, genuine heroes and lifesavers, are barely alive.
Keith braces himself against the SUV, his arms resting on it, trying to recover from the shock. He looks around him, livid at the perpetrators of this c*****e. He checks on Sam’s vitals; his breathing is steady but shallow.
