Mummy

1014 Words

Mummy –––––––– IT’S PIPPA’S FREE DAY. She left home at nineteen to live independently of her parents, so once a month she and her mum go out on dates to do girly things. If there is one thing in the world she is most grateful for, it’s having the world’s best mother. “Cool mum,” that’s what her friends call Mrs. Robyn Mitchell, the go-to adult among her peers. Their secrets are safe with her, not to mention the bonus of enjoying her homemade pancakes at the end of every “confession.” Confiding in her is easy since she is non-judgmental and generally not in the habit of giving up gossip. Window shopping is their favourite pastime, even back when she was a wee girl. Trying on clothes they couldn’t afford and taking silly photos in them is another, long before ‘selfie’ was even a word.
