IT’S THE CHIRPING OF the birds that wake him up. He gets up and makes himself a cup of coffee. He tries to shower off his frustration and sadness, but the water can only remove the dirt and the grime; his aching heart still aches when he steps out of the shower stall. He comes out wrapped in a towel and is surprised to see that Abigail is awake.
