Chapter 12
The Return of ThylossThyloss and Ayan approached Ma-ii with caution, not sure what they would find there.
In the courtyard of his home they met one of Thyloss’ young brothers. The boy stared at him in astonishment. Thyloss laughed and slapped him on the shoulder.
‘Do you not recognize me? It is but a day since I have seen you — although I do admit it feels like many lifetimes!’
The boy looked at his shoulder where Thyloss’ hand had rested in amazement.
‘Are you spirit?’ he whispered hoarsely.
‘No, I am not spirit,’ Thyloss laughed. ‘Or, at least, not more than usual. What is troubling you?’
‘We thought you were dead!’ the boy cried. ‘We were sure we saw the black bull kill you! And someone said Ierii had taken your body from the field and then... then there was the fire.
