Hope’s POV
“Hope, it’s been three days,” Riley said, standing at the edge of my bed.
“You haven’t even eaten anything,” Sophia added from a distance as she went on editing her t****k videos she was about to post.
“I’m not hungry,” I muttered, curling deeper into my blanket.
I honestly didn't feel like doing anything. If the ground would even open up and swallow me whole me, that would be good as finally I would stop thinking about losing Alex. Riley of course didn’t accept that. She climbed right onto the bed and flopped down on top of me dramatically.
“Okay, enough of this depressing energy.” She said as she started pushing me.
I groaned as I repeatedly told her to stop.
"Get up!" She said continuously and then she paused for a moment.
“Hope, I’m warning you… if you don’t get up, I will tickle you.”
I stayed silent, pretending I didn’t hear her and then Riley sat up.
“Okay. You asked for it.” She said then dug her fingers right into my sides.
“RILEY—!”
I shrieked and burst into uncontrollable laughter, squirming and kicking, trying to escape her grip.
“No—stop—okay, okay, fine!” I gasped, breathlessly as I gave up.
She finally let me go and sat back smugly.
“I know you're still thinking about Alex." She said finally. "But you need to stop. He's a douchebag and he's not worth it.”
I sighed, already feeling relieved and Riley pulled me in and kissed my cheeks.
"Cheer up!" She said then tickled me again, causing me to giggle a little.
"Riley I'll bite you." I said and she finally surrendered.
“Smile for the camera!” Sophia suddenly chimed in, flipping the camera toward us.
And before I could even protest, the flash went off.
“Sophia! Delete that!” I. Said quickly.
My hair was a mess and I liked terrible.
“Nope. It’s perfect,” she said as started typing rapidly, probably adding a caption to the picture before posting it.
And I was right. My phone pinged and I saw Sophia had tagged me in her story.
“Sophia, I look crazy!” I said as I saw what I looked like.
“Relax. You don't look that bad." She said with a shrug and we all started laughing as started our usual banter.
“Come on. You must be starving." Riley finally nudged me. "Let's go out and eat."
“Why don't we just cook instead?"
“Nope,” she said immediately. “You've been indoors for 3 whole days. You need the sunshine. Let's go get some Vitamin D.”
And before I knew it, she yanked me out of bed and shoved me toward the bathroom to go clean up.
"Fine..." I said and went ahead to have my bath before getting dressed.
We headed to a nearby restaurant, and the moment the food arrived, my stomach growled loudly as the hunger finally took hold of me. I ate like I'd never eaten before.
Maybe food really does heal a broken heart.
Just then, Sophia suddenly lit up and waved at her phone as she got on a video call with her girlfriend.
“Babe!” She said and her girlfriend, Daphne, appeared smiling brightly.
“Hey!
She then went on greeting Riley and I before deciding to talk about my heart break.
"Sophia told me what happened. I’m really sorry.”
“It’s fine, really.” I said, forcing a laugh.
“She had refused to eat for 3 days.” Sophia suddenly mentioned and I kicked her under the table, telling her to shut up.
“Hope’s a sucker for love,” Sophia added and then went on talking about some other things with her.
We kept eating, talking, and laughing below Sophia’s girlfriend suggested that we all meet up and go shopping together.
“It'll be fun.” She said with glee.
“That’s a great idea,” Riley said instantly, as she shoved the last fry in her mouth and started licking her fingers.
"Have some manners." I said jokingly as I swatted her with a napkin and handed it over to her.
She simply mumbled and kept on licking anyway while gesturing for a waiter to come with the bill.
Riley paid and was busy Sophia now filming us and posting.
“Sophia, you post way too much,” I complained. “If someone wanted to kidnap you, they would already know your every move.”
“Please,” she said as she waved me off. “My followers love me.”
When we reached the mall, Daphne met us outside and gave us all a hug before pulling my cousin in for a kiss.
"Get a room." Riley said jokingly before they finally stopped.
We then went in together, drifting from store to store, checking dresses and sunglasses.
"Check me out." Riley said as she put an oversized sunglasses on and struck a pose for me to see.
"You look ridiculous." I said with a laugh before she finally removed it and kept it back.
"How about we get some ice cream next?" Daphne said as we moved on to the ice cream stand.
And naturally, Sophia made us record a video before we took the first lick.
"Hold on, let's not ruin the glam." She said as she pulled us all together and started making videos.
And finally, we decided to buy some takeaways so we wouldn't have to worry about cooking when we got home. And just as Riley was about to pay, a deep male voice spoke from behind me and I was startled a little before turning to see who it was.
“I’ve got this.” He said kindly as he offered to pay for us.
“Oh—thank you,” Riley and I said, surprised.
He was a grey haired man and he looked quite expensive.
“The pleasure's all mine.” He nodded politely as he retrieved his card.
"I'm Abraham.” The man extended his hand to me first and I shook it.
“Hope,” I responded, unsure if he was just being polite or if he had come up to us to shoot his shot.
He smiled slightly and nodded at the girls.
They greeted him and then immediately exchanged a knowing look before deciding to “check something” on the menu, leaving me standing with Abraham.
"Riley!" I said in a whisper as she left me with the man and Abraham simply chuckled as he watched them pretend they couldn't see us.
