NATALIA'S POV
My breath came in short there, a sharp burst as I tried to quiet my racing heart .
"Mates?,both of them?".
Freya was thrashing , clawing at the edges of control. "Mates."
The word pulsed through my mind like a drumbeat shaking me to the core.
I immediately ran out , slamming the door behind me. Chills ran down my spine. I was confused and scared, at some point I didn't know what to feel anymore but I knew definitely that it was going to be a very tough stay for me.
I scowled, my eyes shut and I clenched my fist , my nails dug into my palms begging Freya to quiet down . This wasn't a time to fall apart.
I was already at a very high risk of being caught, the Alpha Academy was known to be brutal and there have never been any situation of a female trying to enrol into the school .I definitely did not need distractions as heavy as this.
After a while, I had finally wrestled Freya into submission. She was finally calm but I knew it wasn't going to be for too long but at least she was calm.
Slowly, I knocked on the door once more silently praying to the moon goddess and my parents to see me through.
Trying to sound calm and assertive. I slowly spoke increasing my voice enough to be heard at the other side of the room. I wonder why they hadn't even bothered to come out to check who I was after badging in.
"Could you please dress appropriately? I need to come inside."
It all got quiet again until I heard a low and calm voice reply, "and what if we don't?”
" Then I wouldn't try to be nice anymore and I would as much take this up with the academy’s management " I said almost getting annoyed now.
After a moment, I heard a faint shuffle of movement. I took a deep breath to steady myself and took a step back .
The minutes dragged on, every second reminding me of the mistake I had made walking into that room. Their scent still ran fresh through my nostrils, their faces burning in my memory.
I paced about in small circle in the hallway, my mind restless. I couldn't careless at the other students staring at me with curiosity written all over their faces as they walked past me.
Who the heck are those guys? I kept asking myself
Their presence was overwhelming, their scent so intriguing unlike any other wolves I had ever met.
Suddenly , the door flew open with enough force to rattle the flame. This time both of them were fully clothed, though the change had no effect on the suffocating weight of their presence. I was now staring at them head on, trying to ignore the scents that filled up my nostrils.
The first to step forward reward from inside the room is the one with cool gray blue eyes. His movements were predatory like a king waiting to feed on his preys. Like he was used to people getting out of his way.
The other guy looked more subtle had piercing blue eyes that seemed as though he could see through me stood not to far from the first guy. He looks calmer but with equally commanding force.
While one looked more rough and aggressive, the other looked more cooler and more calculative. Looking at their faces while I could see the striking resemblance in their faces, it wasn't very distinctive but it was there.
"You've got five seconds to explain why you barged into our room." The gray eyed one said with an aggressive tone.
Immediately, I held up my dorm assignment paper, refusing to back down.
"Your room? This is supposed to be room," I replied trying to sound calm.
He slowly looked between paper and me , a glint of disbelief and confusion happened on his face. I couldn't quite interpret the expression on his face. But it definitely wasn't a happy one.
"Your room?" he replied with a laugh.
"There's no way you'll be assigned to this room."
He took a step closer, his intimidating figure casting a long shadow over me.
"What's your name?"
"Nate," I said evenly, trying to sound bold.
"Nate of Emberclaw pack."
He let out a sharp mocking laugh. His voice so rich I felt Freya twist in my head. "Emberclaw?, I knew it, a pathetic little desert rat. You don't belong here, You're too weak," he whispered mokingly.
I kept my face neutral, trying to hide the anger fuming in me. You could tell with his confidence that he was from the high ranks.
"You shouldn't be wasting your time, this one's not worth it." The icy eyed one suddenly said from behind, his expression unreadable. I had thought he wasn't going to say anything because he had had that bored expression ever since the conversation started.
"Not worth it? This rat thinks he can share a room with us." The gray eyed one replies in a high tone.
"Do you even have an idea who we are?" He voice sounding quite dangerous now but I honestly couldn't careless, I had to be strong for my people and from my brother.
I held his gaze, refusing to show fear.
"No, I don't, and I don't care" trying so much to hide the slight amount of fear that was building up.
"You think you're an Alpha ?" The gray eyed one said, he hissed, his stormy gaze boring into mine. "You don't even smell like one."
Freya bristled at the insult, but I pushed her down, refusing to let her anger show. I knew she wasn't really angry she just didn't pretty much like the fact that she was being insulted by her mate.
The gray eyed one smirk widened, he stepped closer to me, his voice coming out as a growl. "If you think for a second that we're going to share a room with someone like you, then you're even more stupid than I thought."
"I'm not going anywhere,” My voice bolder than I intended. If you feel too mighty to share a room with me then take it up with the administration."
The smirk on his face disappeared, and I knew something unexpected was going to happen.
His hands shot faster than a gunshot, grabbing the front of my shirt, and dragging me towards him. I gasped as he slammed me against the doorframe. I suddenly heard loud gasps from students on the hallway, I subconsciously noticed that they had gotten more now. They probably had heard of the all banter.
"You're biting more than you can chew, you desert rat" he said, his voice low and menacing.
"Let him go, Lucian" The icy eyed one said, his voice though calm and soft cut through the tension like a knife.
He hesitated for a second, his grip tightening briefly before shoving me back. My shoulder hit the wall, but I stayed on my feet, biting back the sting of humiliation.
"How did you even make it through the entrance exam?" The icy eyed one said, "You're too weak and vulnerable, you'll be intimidated, bullied and oppressed here. Judging from the way you even stand, I doubt you'd be able to fight for yourself."
"I earned my spot, just like everyone else," I snapped, anger flaring.
"Earned it?" Lucian which is presumed was his name laughed mockingly.
Emberclaw doesn't even produce Alphas. It barely produces wolves, so tell me how you earned it little one.
The insult struck deeper than I cared to admit, but I didn't let it show.
Lucian took a step closer, his next action was what I was trying to figure out and prepare for. "Here's the deal. You have five minutes to pack your things and get out of here."
"Or what?" The words were out of my mouth before I could stop them.
He smirked, stepping closer to me until his face was inches from mine.
"Then, we'll make sure you regret it."
He came towards me, his steps fast and precise, one could tell he's been training so well. He extended his claws, I ducked narrowly escaping a punch that could have landed straight on my cheeks.
Something in me kept pushing me to fight back, but I couldn't. Not against him, I knew I was no match for him and I could expose my secret with any slight mistake.
"You think you're quick, but not quick enough." Lucian said.
Before I could react, he was already behind me, his arm locking around my neck. My air flow cut instantly, I couldn't barely breathe. My sight became blurry and I clawed at his forearm. Pain surges through me.
"Enough, Lucian." The Icy eyed one said sharply.
I suddenly felt the pressure on my neck reduce and I stumbled forward gasping for breath.
"Pick up your things and leave, this environment is too harsh for someone like you." The icy eyed one said, in his usual calm tone.
The tension was suffocating. Freya growled in frustration, and I had to fight to keep her in check. The last thing I needed was to draw attention to myself.
My chest heaved as I glazed at their retreating figures and the door closed behind them. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of breaking me. Not now, not ever.
I bent down to gather my scattered belongings, hiding my vial Nate gave me properly. My hands shaking with a mix of anger and humiliation.
"Need a hand?"
I looked at up to see two new figures standing over me. One of them, talk dark and handsome, dressed in an all black cloth. He knelt down and began picking up my things.
“I'm Nathan”he said with a small smile.
The other one a blond with an easy grin crouched beside him. "And I'm Felix. Don't mind those two, they're always like that."
"Who are they?" I asked , unable to stop my curiosity.
I could see the hesitation and caution in Nathan’s face before answering.
“Lucian and Rafael. The twins of the Golden Pack.”
The name sent a jolt through me, the Golden Pack was a pack I had heard various tales of. They were known to be rich in technology and all and I think I once heard they controlled the Alpha's Academy. No wonder the twins were shocked about having a room mate.
"They are the twin sons of the Alpha of the Golden Pack. They are known of being ruthless.” Felix interjected.
"The one with long tousled black hair and cool gray blue eyes is Lucian and he's the younger twin".
"And the one with short dark brown hair and piercing icy blue eyes is Rafael."
All what they were saying struck me like a speeding train.
The weight of what I just heard settled over me. I was sharing a room with the two strongest wolves in the Academy and we started off on a very bad note
"Good luck Nate. I wonder why you were even allocated to their room. It shouldn't be possible" Felix said pitifully.
That question was what kept running on my head and to make things worse they just so happen to be my mate. Was the moon goddess playing a joke with me. Is she truly after the down fall of Emberclaw.
The two of them soon helped me to my feet but I couldn't shake off the feeling that my troubles at this Academy were only just beginning.
