Chapter 3

“What!! Are you crazy, see we are both adults. It was a one night stuff that was supposed to end that day and besides it was an accident!”Elara exclaimed in disbelief.

Lucien just sat there staring at her with his captivating black eyes.

“Mr I really don't want this, why don't we just take it as if it never happened huh?”

Elara said in frustration.

“This marriage will be beneficial to you, your mom is seriously ill and is admitted in a hospital at the outskirts which we both know isn't good enough to treat her. I'll change her hospital to the best one in the city, and you'll also get some other benefits”.

Elara was surprised. How did he know all this? But that didn't matter. She was drawn and tempted because of her mother, she knew she wouldn't be able to make enough to take her to a better care place in time, all other things didn't matter but her mother.

“Here is the contract, it's just a temporary marriage. If you find someone you love after the time stated in the contract you can gladly withdraw”.

“But I don't even know anything about you, how about we have some time to get to know each other?”

“I already know everything about you so let me introduce myself. My name is Lucien Blackwood. I am the CEO of Marvel corporation and I am 26.

What!! This was the greatest shock of her life so far, who didn't know of the great blackwood family. They are known to be the most powerful family in the city and have great influence, who knew that this ethereally handsome man would be their heir and she was actually speaking to him!.

“But why me? There are so many pretty girls from rich families out there who would match your standards and fit your status, why me?” Elara asked.

Lucien looked at her and said “My family found out about that night and requested for me to do so, here's the contract you can immediately sign your name after going through it properly also see if there's any condition you are not okay with so it can be adjusted”.

Elara couldn't believe her ears, she didn't want to be in this kind of marriage, her dream was to marry the man she loved and have cute babies so they would live blissfully together, but now she was met with this.

She couldn't accept, “Mr Lucien sorry I'm not interested in this offer” she said and immediately ran out of his office.

“Miss! Wait…” assistant Luke said as he was just about to chase after her.

“No need just keep an eye on her, make sure nothing happens to her and also report her doings to me, you can go”Lucien instructed

Elara exited the company building as she thought of everything she had heard, should she do it? But she had just met this man. He obviously wouldn't love her. It was all because of his family, but her mother, she really had to help her, what should she do?.

“Uhhhh I need to get all this off my mind I won't accept it” Elara said with finality.

“Miss Edith we just got hold of news that sir Lucien is getting married, and to add to it it's just a poor low class girl she isn't even worth his finger” Glory said in anger.

“Miss Edith you and sir Lucien had been together for 3 years until he suddenly broke up and you've been trying to get to him only for this wench to pop out from nowhere” Glory added.

“Glory you have a point, she'll surely ruin my plans, go investigate her and bring every single information about her to my table, is that clear?.

“Yes ma” Glory answered with excitement as she ran out to do her job.

Edith picked up her phone and dialed a number she hadn't dialed in months,she really hoped he would pick up.

“Hello” that familiar deep and cold voice snapped her out of her reverie.

“Lucien,how are you”

“I'm okay,” he replied coldly.

“Lucien I heard you are getting married”

“Yeah why?”

“Lucien, it's a fake marriage right? It can't be a real one, you can't get over all the years we spent together in such a short time!”

“Edith that's enough, I already made it clear that it was over. My marriage has nothing to do with you!” Lucien said in an impatient tone.

“Lucien, you loved me so much, why did you suddenly break up?”

“Edith I realized that what I had for you wasn't love”.

“What was it? Tell me Lucien, what did you have for me!”.

“I don't have time for all this Edith” Lucien said, his voice laced with irritation.

“Haa you don't have time right okay, but know that I'll always love you Lucien. Wait till you realize I am the only one fit to be with you” Edith said and hung up.

“I just want to know who exactly that girl is!

Glory prepare the men we have to annihilate her!!”.

Elara was on her way back home when she received a call from her father saying she should hurry back home because there was an emergency.

She hated going back to that place but she had to, her father wouldn't relent until she was back, she immediately hailed a cab to the direction of their family house.

Her father owned a company which was doing well so far, he could be considered rich but yet he never gave her a dime he left her and her mother to suffer without an ounce of remorse or sympathy. She hated him much.

“Ma'am we're here” the cab driver's words interrupted her thoughts.

“Oh thanks” she said as she stepped down from the car and laid him.

After a few minutes of hesitation she finally marched towards the entrance of the house and entered.

As she stepped in surprisingly she found many people present, it looked like a celebration or something but why didn't she know about it? Well she never came home so it was understandable.

“Elara” she heard someone call out to her.

She turned around and found Evelyn marching towards her in excitement which was obviously an act!.

“You came? Thank goodness you are here I would have been bored to death without you around” Evelyn said as she hooked her arms around her and she said those words in a deliberately high voice which drew all the guests attention to them.

But Elara happened to not notice and drew her arms away and looked at Evelyn with disdain.

“Sister what happened? Are you still angry about the previous occurrence, you see Jacob and I love each other so much but if you still insist I'll let go as long as you would be happy and be as close to me as before” Evelyn said as she feigned tears.

That was the moment Elara realized what she was trying to do, she was putting up an act like this to gain favour from the crowd and also cause all of them to despise her.

“Evelyn, get out of my way” Elara said but Evelyn didn't budge instead she held onto Elara's gown tightly while crying hysterically.

“Elara I know you will never forgive me but please Jacob and I really love each other”

Everyone here knew that her and Jacob were initially together but then he left her for Evelyn but yet they still stood on Evelyn's side.

Everyone was mummuring and cursing Elara for being so heartless and treating her sister this way.

“She's her blood sister, what is a man that she won't forgive her sister for”.

“Yeah she is so heartless even at such a young age”.

Everyone whispered.

“Enough” Mr John said as he stepped out.

“Dad!! Thank goodness you're here, help me beg sis please help me beg her to forgive me I couldn't control myself and I fell in love with Jacob she must hate me to the bones”.

“Elara, why are you still holding onto this matter huh? Why can't you just forgive your sister! I really regret having you as a daughter!”.

Elara looked on with an indifferent expression, this wasn't the first time he was saying that and he was being biased; she was long used to it.

Just then her step mom came down from the stairs and walked up to her before she knew it a slap landed right on her left cheek.

Pahh!!

Her face was bent to the side from the impact of the slap, she was slapped so hard that there was a swollen print on her cheek.

Jacob, who was watching from the side, wanted to step forward but immediately stopped, he couldn't oppose Evelyn for her.

“How dare you? Do you think you have any right to be angry at Evelyn, she didn't steal Jacob from you, Jacob just didn't love you!”.

Her father stood there with a frown on his face. His thoughts were that calling her here was a mistake, look how she had ruined such a lively party.

“Mum! You shouldn't have done that, Elara is my sister, she has every right to be angry cause it's all my fault, Elara are you alright?”. Evelyn said as she stretched out her hands in an attempt to touch Elara but she shifted immediately.

Seeing this her step mother was triggered again “You… Evelyn is still so kind towards you yet you still have such a hardened heart!!” She wanted to rush forward and slap her once again but was stopped by her husband.

“Enough of this drama!! Elara is leaving right now, I see that I made a huge mistake by calling her here”.

“Yeah you are right, you made a big mistake by marrying my mother you also made a big mistake by allowing her to give birth to me but I want to ask why? Why do you treat us so? My mum is in a local hospital right now and that hospital can't even give her sufficient treatment and you know about this yet you don't care, you can't even spare a little of your money to help, you'd rather let her die!!. You aren't fit to be her husband and you also aren't fit to be my father” Elara said as she turned and walked away.

“Elara wait!” She heard Evelyn call behind her but didn't bother to stop and continued walking away.

As she strolled down the lonely streets she couldn't hold her tears anymore, she didn't want her life to be like this. She had always wanted a happy family, a family where she would be loved and valued but life gave the complete opposite.

With all this happening in her life she didn't have hope nor did she have anyone to encourage her.

Just as she was sobbing quietly while walking to where she could get a cab home a van suddenly stopped beside her and about two men came out of it and immediately covered her nose with a small towel that contained an unknown substance which caused her to black out. They immediately pulled her towards the van and drove away.

“Miss, we have successfully abducted her, what next?” the man said to the person on the other end.

“Wait till I get there I'll deal with her myself”

Edith replied in a lazy voice.

“Noted”

“Make sure no one finds out about this, is that clear?”.

“Yes miss we made sure no trace was left”

“Good” the other end immediately hung up.

“My dear, I wonder how you are going to escape this,” Edith said in delight.

Lucien was just about to leave the company when assistant Luke barged

“Sir! Miss Elara has been kidnapped!!.
