5 The night before, Lucien had planned to go to the movies, but the torrential rain had discouraged him. The thick drops resonated against the pavement, and the streets were deserted. Only during the time of mass could dark shadows be seen huddling under umbrellas and battling against the wind. Since ten in the morning, a strong wind had been blowing. Around ten, Lucien finally decided to get ready, which was quite unusual for him. Up to that moment, he had been wandering around the house in pajamas and a robe, doing nothing in particular. He was feeling a bit feverish again, nothing too serious, 37.6 degrees, but that was enough to make him feel lazy and indolent. His wife took the opportunity to pamper him even more, and although he grumbled softly, deep down he felt very satisfied.
