The sight of the main group brought a lump to Josef’s throat and a swelling in his chest. Those feelings were tempered with a cold chill at the thought that he would be leaving them once again, even if only briefly. As they set out towards the south, to the left of their earlier path, to get another reading Josef found himself studying his own compass carefully. He was so intent that the hundred paces seemed to pass far more quickly than before. Josef raised the Amulet once again, quickly establishing the direction the child lay in.
