He quickly covered the ground to the stairwell, wanting to keep the fleeing vampires off balance. Once into the stairwell the barrier covered a much smaller area, allowing him to strengthen it significantly. He needn’t have bothered. He reached the next floor unchallenged, then stepped out into the room there. The doors leading from the room still stood open. There had been no chance to seal them when Daniel and the others fled the keep. Many of the vampires had run to this floor, and most of those were fleeing through the open doorways already.
