In the kingdom of Lingerfelt it was little Jazmica’s soon to be eighteenth birthday and a celebration of her long-lost sister. They would invite all the houses from the kingdom to see if they could find her. She was hoping for this year her sister would join her there in the kingdom and grow up as the most wonderful princesses any kingdom would ever witness. She dearly missed her sister even though they were separated at birth she could feel down in her gut that her sister was still close by and still very alive. She made it her life’s mission to find her sister and bring her back and show her all the wonderful things their kingdom had to bestow. She went to the king and queen this year to ask then to spread their searches to other kingdoms and cities around to send out the invites in hopes that they would find her. As so the king agreed with his bright daughter and made it so.
While at the home of the Alistan’s little Casandra was out doing her chores. Helping her parents was her favorite thing to do. She knew her birthday was coming close but all she wanted this year was to celebrate with her parents. She loved her little farm life. She also loved her parents with all her heart and knew money wasn’t a lot to come upon to spend on simple stuff. She didn’t know how much longer she would have with her mother and father for they were old and getting to where they couldn’t do much for not just themselves but to add on her wants would be too much for her to ask of them. They had made her life a happy one, so all she would ask for is a day with them.
One day while Cassandra was out doing her chores a messenger came riding up to their little farm and so she wondered what he was needing. So instead of making her parents worry she rushed to the edge of the road to receive the message he brought to them. As the messenger road up to her she had seen it was from the royal family of close by kingdom of Lingerfelt. He worn their colors of royal blues and golds. She wondered in awe what they wanted with her little, small farm family. When the messenger arrived, he held out a formal invitation to the princess’ royal ball for her eighteenth birthday party. All was welcome to come. She thanked the messenger and let him go on with his ride to the next house. As she held the invitation in her hands her mother and father came out of their little farm home tears in their eyes. She wanted to go but she didn’t want to bother them with it. So, she put it in her pocket and went on her way doing her chores.
John looked down at his loving wife when he knew Cassandra wasn’t in ear shot and told her that it was time, they told her the truth. Amanda hung her head and agreed that at dinner time she and him would tell their daughter of their ill manners and of what they had done to her.
Cassandra had finished her chores and was sitting out by the stables with her favorite horse Chance. She took the invite out of her pocket and looked at it more than before she noticed the date of the party and it was the same as her own birthday. She didn’t think nothing of it but still tucked it back in her pocket and gave Chance a big hug and a kiss on his nose and wished him a good night like she always did before going in. Something was tugging at her as she thought of the invitation that was still in her pocket, but she couldn’t figure out what it was or why she was so worried about a little piece of paper.
Cassandra went inside to get cleaned up to help her mother with dinner but by the time she was cleaned and came to the kitchen dinner was done and ready and her parents were already sitting down at the table waiting for her. She thought she had done something wrong, so she had asked them, “is something the matter. Was I too late in finishing my chores to help with dinner?” “Oh no dear child” her father had started saying “We just wanted to get things done because we have something to tell you.” Casandra’s hand went to her pocket but didn’t bring out the invitation. She started to get a sick feeling in her stomach. She looked at both her parents and knew something was going to make things change a lot.
That night at the kingdom of Lingerfelt. Princess Jazmica was just sitting down for their dinner when a messenger come barging in unannounced. “Your majesty it’s very important that I see you now. I was out doing my messages out in the farm areas, and I know where the lost princess is.” the king and queen both jumped out of their chairs and looked straight at the messenger and the king said “Sir if you are mistaken by any chance do not go any further with what you are about to say. But if you are for sure you have seen her, we are to march fully to go get my long-lost daughter and punish those who are keeping her away from us.” The messenger looked over at the princess and finally announced “your majesty I am as certain as I look at the princess Jazmica right now. I swear on my honor that it was her. She was the one I handed the message to, and I saw the ones who took her. It was the queen’s older bedchamber head mistress and her husband that had her with them.” The queen gasped as she knew something had happened to her bedchamber head mistress, but she thought she had gotten kidnapped as well as her child. Now she knew for certain that the messenger was telling the truth and knew where to find her long lost child. She tugged at her husband’s arm and looked in his eyes with fear and dread. “If that is so I do not want any harm to come to them I just want our daughter home. Take the soldiers that you want to but bring them all back to me so I can see and ask her why she did such a thing to me and her kingdom.”
At the Alistan farm. Cassandra was in tears when her mother told her of what she had done, her hands held the invitation in her clenched fist. She didn’t know what to say to either of them. Her whole life was a lie and now right before her and her twin’s birthday they tell her this. She knew she had still loved them and will always will they raised her to be the woman she is today. With her head lowered she asked in a soft but maddened voiced “why me and why you tell me now?” Amanda started to cry, and she she looked at Cassandra and told her, “the messenger who road in today seen you and will also go and tell the king of his findings of you being here with us and so we know they will come for you. Instead of them telling you what happened we thought it would be better if we told you our self instead. We are very sorry daughter.” “don’t call me that anymore. You have no right now nor ever again” Cassandra scolded at Amanda. “I will deal with the king and his soldiers when it happens to come upon us. But you no longer have the right to call me your daughter.” And with that she gets up and storms upstairs to her room and shuts her door. As she leans up against the closed door, she tried to catch her breath and when she did, she looks at her hand and sees she is still holding the invitation. It has a map of how to get to the kingdom on the back of it and she thought to herself instead of them dealing with the soldiers and the king when they arrived, she would go to them. Who knew if up and snuck out the back door to get to the stables? There she finds her favorite horse Chance and puts a saddle on him with her rains and walked him off the farm grounds. She walked him to the top of the hill climbed up on her horse while keeping him steady she takes one last look of her former home. She did have great memories there, but they were all fake ones and not true to the heart. So, with tears in her eyes, she tugged at the rains and started her trip to the kingdom that will now be her new home.
