Chapter 2

1020 Words
Marie P.O.V “Any type of wolf who decides to become a waiter must be crazy! Like, seriously get your head tested, crazy!!!” Zoe said, or more screamed at the top of her lungs as she flopped down on one of the chairs in the kitchen. I laughed at the way she looked She desperately tried to get one of her black curls out of her face by blowing it up the whole time. Seeing how I looked at her, she just huffed and folded her arms across her chest. “If I knew that this was the type of vacation that we would have … I would have seriously considered getting us a different summer job, like cleaning someone’s house of even working behind the cash register or you know … something better than this!” Zoe said, throwing her arms in the air, trying to be as dramatic as she possibly could be. I couldn’t help but laugh at all of her theatrics. She picked up one of the chocolate milkshakes that her grandmother had ordered for us and took one big sip. As soon as she placed the glass down on the counter again, I almost doubled over from laughing.. She had a brown stripe of milkshake, spread across her upper lip, making it look like she had some sort of sickly moustache going on. She just looked at me and frowned before I pointed to my upper lip, finally making her realize why I was laughing. “Seriously, why do you always need to laugh at me, Marie?!” Zoe exclaimed. “Zoe, seriously, you can’t blame me. How could I not laugh when someone is trying to win a grammy for the most dramatic wolf to ever walk the earth?!” I said with a giggle. She just huffed at me before laying back against the wall behind her. “Oh, you are one to speak! Seriously, you didn’t have to waiter on table five. I swear that table has to be cursed or something like that! And for some reason, completely beyond me, I always end up getting that table in my assigned section! First, I had that rumpy elder sitting there this morning, the cappuccino wasn’t cappuccino enough for him, then I brought him a café late, which, according to him tasted like sour milk! He didn’t even gave me a tip! Then, after him, there was that Alpha family from the north with their four little monster entitled children. I thought it would be a breeze – WRONG!” Zoe exclaimed rolling her eyes. “Do you know how difficult those children were?! Monster number one bumped his cold drink all over the table and said that the glass was uneven on the bottom side, then monster number two decided to puke all over moster three, and monster number four decided to cry over everything, literally, everything! Even the color of the restaurant!” Zoe exclaimed, making myself and all the kitchen staff laugh at her. I would rather not tell Zoe whose idea it was to come and work in Zucchi over the summer holidays. Zoe’s grandmother owns this restaurant and has been living here at the coast all her life. Her grandmother invited us to come and visit her over the summer vacations and if we wanted to earn a little extra money while we were here, we were allowed to help out at her restaurant, Zucchi. It was seriously a great idea at first when Zoe told me all about it and I wasn’t too excited to go on another family holiday to the caravan park near the woods anyway. Besides, it felt good to know that I can earn a little extra money to help pay for some of the things while I was here. Zoe did have a point when she said that being a waiter is hard. I had no idea it would be this difficult to do it. Usually when I went out with my parents to the restaurant back in our home town, we were usually helped with the quickest service. But now, I think that was only a possibility seeing that we were Betas. We have been working here for almost two weeks already and if it wasn’t for the restaurant having a fantastic view of the ocean, I could have sworn that we were somewhere in a remote location or something like that. Our days usually consisted of waking up at the crack of dawn, having breakfast and getting dressed before getting ready to go to the restaurant. Work, work, work. Then, come home after work and being hopelessly too tired to even think of getting dressed and going down to the beach. Zayden came to sit down next to Zoe, also looking like a bus ran him over. “I swear, if she makes me wash one more dish, I will throw that dish right where I shouldn’t hit her!” Zayden said as he laid his head on Zoe’s shoulder. Zoe immediately started scolding him and asking him if she looked like a wall or something. Those two never got along and I always found it hilarious. Zayden was an Alpha from a pack close by, but seeing as his older brother was the next in line, Zayden always referred to himself as the ‘spare’ to the Bloodnight Pack. “Hell knows what kind of chef you would become one day if you can’t even bare washing the dishes!” Tamara said. Tamara was the head chef of the restaurant and a very close friend to Zoe’s grandmother. Being part of an Alpha family, Zayden didn’t necessarily have to get a job since those types of families were usually loaded with money, but Zayden said he loved food and moreover he loved experimenting with it. Zayden was also in senior year, but he said that he would like to save some money to buy himself stuff in order for his father not to make him feel guilty every time he asked for money to buy something for himself.
