"Xavier" I whispered. Melissa frowned, then sniffed the air and nodded. In a flash she was out of my room and, from the surprised yelp I heard, into Lincoln's.
"I'm sorry for showing up unannounced but you left last night in quite a hurry and I was worried. Can I come in?" Xavier said from outside my window. I nodded then called out yes when I realized he couldn't see inside the room from where he stood.
He smoothly jumped into my room and leaned on the window sill, looking concerned.
"I'm sorry for leaving so abruptly. I just had some things I needed to work through" I said, sticking as close to the truth as possible. I didn't want to lie to him, not after unfairly mistrusting him.
