--- The Kumar Chronicles: Shimla Special Chapter 14: Preparing for the Hills When the Kumar family decides to go to Shimla, the preparation is, of course, an ordeal. “Pack warm clothes,” Sunita reminded everyone. “It’s cold in Shimla.” Ramesh, who fancied himself an expert traveler, chimed in, “Also, pack light! We’re traveling in our Maruti Omni, not a moving truck.” Dadi, of course, disagreed. “I need my masala dabba, an extra shawl, and my steel thermos. Who knows if they’ll serve decent chai in Shimla?” “Shimla has amazing chai, Ma,” Ramesh groaned. “That’s what you said about Jaipur, and we ended up drinking sugar water at that dhaba!” Meanwhile, Riya was packing her winter outfits and a collection of scarves, all for i********: photos. “The hills are going to love me!” “And me!” Aman declared, stuffing snow gloves into his bag. “I’ll build the biggest snowman!” “You do realize there’s no guarantee of snow in Shimla this time of year, right?” Riya said, rolling her eyes. “There will be snow. I Googled it!” Aman shot back. By the time they finished packing, the family had so much luggage that the roof of the van had to be loaded as well. Golu barked excitedly, sensing another adventure. --- Chapter 15: Roadblocks and Revelations The family set off early the next morning. Dadi brought along her radio and insisted on playing old Bollywood songs. “Let’s sing along!” she said, belting out a horribly off-tune version of "Mere Sapno Ki Rani." “Ma, you’re going to wake the wild animals,” Ramesh joked. “Good! At least they’ll have better taste than you!” Dadi shot back. Everything seemed smooth until they hit a traffic jam near Chandigarh. Cars were honking, and people were arguing. “What’s going on?” Sunita asked. A truck had broken down, blocking the road. While Ramesh tried to figure out a way around, Aman and Riya decided to stretch their legs. “Don’t wander too far!” Sunita yelled, but it was too late. Within minutes, Aman found a street vendor selling kulfi and convinced Riya to buy him one. Unfortunately, Golu followed and managed to knock over the vendor’s entire icebox, scattering kulfi everywhere. “You’re buying me a new stock!” the vendor yelled as Riya dragged Aman and Golu back to the van. “Why does everything we do turn into a scene?” she groaned. “Because we’re the Kumars,” Aman said proudly. --- Chapter 16: Shimla at Last After a long drive filled with arguments, snacks, and more off-tune singing, they finally reached Shimla. “Ah, the fresh air!” Ramesh said, stepping out of the van. “And the cold,” Sunita added, wrapping her shawl tighter. Their hotel, a cozy but slightly rundown establishment, had a breathtaking view of the mountains. “This is nice,” Riya said, snapping pictures for her i********:. “It’s okay,” Dadi muttered. “But where’s the chai?” Things were going well until the family discovered that the hotel’s heating system wasn’t working properly. “Great,” Riya complained. “Now we’re going to freeze to death.” “We’ll manage,” Ramesh said optimistically. “I’ll call the manager.” “Knowing you, you’ll end up fixing it yourself,” Dadi quipped. --- Chapter 17: Snow, Shenanigans, and Slip-Ups The next day, the family headed to Kufri, hoping to find snow. Much to their delight, the hills were covered in a fresh blanket of white. “See? I told you there’d be snow!” Aman shouted, running ahead with Golu. As they started playing, Riya tried to pose for her perfect snow angel picture, only for Aman to hit her with a massive snowball mid-pose. “AMAN!” she screamed, chasing him through the snow. Meanwhile, Ramesh decided to try sledding. Unfortunately, his sled hit a bump, and he ended up face-first in a pile of snow. “Are you okay?” Sunita asked, laughing hysterically. “I’m fine,” Ramesh grumbled, spitting out snow. Even Dadi got in on the fun, challenging the local kids to a snowball fight. To everyone’s surprise, she was a fierce competitor, landing perfect hits every time. “Dadi, you’re a sniper!” Aman cheered. “I’ve been throwing slippers at people for decades,” she replied smugly. --- Chapter 18: A Shopping Spree Gone Wrong On their last day in Shimla, the family decided to visit the famous Mall Road. “I want to buy woolen socks,” Dadi announced. “And I need to get souvenirs for my friends,” Riya added. As they explored the bustling market, Ramesh haggled over everything. “Why is this shawl 800 rupees? I’ll give you 200!” “It’s handwoven, sir,” the shopkeeper replied, clearly annoyed. While Ramesh argued, Aman found a street magician performing tricks. Fascinated, he volunteered to be part of the act. Unfortunately, Aman misunderstood the instructions and ended up dropping the magician’s props. “Oops!” Aman said as the crowd burst into laughter. By the time the family regrouped, they had a collection of mismatched items: a woolen monkey cap for Dadi, a snow globe for Riya, and a plastic sword Aman insisted on buying. --- Chapter 19: The Journey Back As they headed back to Rajnagar, the family reflected on their trip. “This was the best vacation ever!” Aman declared. “I’m posting our snowball fight as a reel,” Riya said, already editing on her phone. “I’ll miss the fresh air,” Sunita admitted. “But I won’t miss the cold.” “I’ll miss nothing,” Dadi said. “Except the chai.” Ramesh, meanwhile, was already planning their next trip. “What do you think about Goa next time?” “Only if you promise not to drive,” Dadi replied, making everyone laugh. --- Epilogue: The Kumar Legacy Back home, life resumed its usual rhythm, but the Shimla trip became a story the Kumars would recount for years. As the family gathered for dinner one evening, Dadi raised her cup of chai. “To more chaos, more laughter, and more adventures!” she declared. “Cheers to that!” Ramesh said, grinning. And with that, the Kumars continued their journey through life—one hilarious mishap at a time. ---
