They had faced storms of bullets together and survived brushes with death side by side. Nora had once believed they would live like that for the rest of their lives.

Until Olivia anonymously sent her photos of herself in bed with Liam.

Liam had been running interference the whole time, which was why Nora had never been able to find any proof, no matter how hard she looked.

What she had not expected was that Olivia could be vicious enough to encourage her own brother to go after Nora's innocent younger sister…

Since they were determined to drive her into a corner, they could hardly blame her for preparing a gift far beyond what they could bear.

The text message she had sent to Mexico had just shown as read.

Vincent Ross came rushing into the archery range, clutching his phone, panic written all over his face.

"Mrs. Bennett—n-no, this is bad! Xavier Brooks called Miss Collins again to humiliate her. She couldn't take it anymore… she jumped!"

By the time Nora reached the hospital, Isla was lying alone in the emergency room.

Her breathing was weak, and beneath her body, her blood had spread into a small dark pool.

Nora's mind went blank. "Where are the doctors…?"

She turned to Vincent, tears bursting from her eyes. "Go get a doctor! I need Isla to live!"

Vincent searched the entire hospital. He even dropped to his knees outside the director's office and begged, but not a single doctor came.

"Mrs. Bennett, every doctor in Stonevale has been summoned by Mr. Bennett to treat Olivia's injuries."

Nora bit down hard on her lower lip. "What about the doctors at the group hospital?"

Vincent frowned in anguish. "Olivia controls all of Bennett Group's resources now. She refuses to let go of any authority!"

"Mr. Bennett said everything is up to her, as long as she's happy! He also said that if you want Miss Collins to live, you have to go to the VIP ward on the top floor and kneel to Olivia… and beg for forgiveness."

Nora's heart clenched so violently it felt like a hand had seized it and squeezed.

In her arms, Isla weakly opened her eyes. "Nora… don't go…"

"I know making you bow to that woman would hurt you more than death… I'd rather die myself than watch you be humiliated…"

"Nora, believe me, I'm not a bad girl… I really thought Xavier loved me. That's why I let him film those videos. I made you lose face… I'm sorry…"

Seeing that Isla was on the brink of death and still worrying about her only made Nora's heart shatter even more.

Her hands trembled as she gently pressed them to Isla's face. "Isla, don't say that… The ones who were wrong are those heartless monsters. You will always be my pride."

It felt as if a gaping wound had been ripped open in her chest, and icy wind kept pouring through it.

Nora closed her eyes. "Hold on, Isla. I'm not going to let anything happen to you…"

In the VIP ward on the top floor, Olivia was curled up in Liam's arms, whining softly that she was in pain.

The moment she saw Nora, a flash of vicious delight flickered through her watery eyes, like a hunter spotting prey.

"Nora, what brings you here? Don't tell me… you've come to apologize to me?"

Nora clenched her teeth. "I have."

"If I kneel and kowtow to you, you'll let the doctors save Isla. Is that right?"

Olivia gently stroked the dog in her lap and nodded with a smile.

Nora dropped straight to her knees.

People in the hallway gathered around, whispering among themselves.

"She actually knelt? Wasn't everyone saying Mr. Bennett was deeply in love with her?"

"That was in the past. People change."

"And this is a wealthy family we're talking about. So what if they once suffered together as husband and wife? Mrs. Bennett is nothing more than a title."

Every word they spoke was like an invisible hand, tearing apart, piece by piece, the Liam she remembered—the devoted man who had once loved only her.

Nora nearly ground her teeth to dust.

And still, she bowed her head three times. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Brooks. I should never have shot that arrow and hurt you."

After ripping her own dignity to shreds with her own hands, Nora lifted her eyes and looked at Olivia.

"Can the doctors save Isla now?"
