The rogue princess

Chapter one

In a world that is fairly similar to ours in the respects of land markings, lived on one content a war between two types of beings that not everyone agreed with. It all started due to a lie; a lie that no one knew how to prove into a lie. Centuries went by and nothing seemed to change other than the fact that many angels and demons died in the confrontation.

Of course in subject to the war one war lord of Gehenna was more than happy to end the war with an angel Valkyrie who thought the war was pointless. The two of them weren’t seen for most of the war when it came to the night, it wasn't until it was known that the young Valkyrie was pregnant with a demon spawn child.

The Valkyrie was placed on a high watch throughout her entire pregnancy until the birth of the child. Seeing the fact that the young child was light toned skin like the angels made the angel's content but one angel male in particular hated the fact that the child was still holding the destructive powers of a demon.

So the sins of the woman would be forgotten by the angels, she was killed as a treaty of peace between them as the demon lord was given the child to watch over. Heart broken and desperate to end the worthless war, he agreed to it saying his final goodbye to his beloved before taking their daughter to Gehenna where he had her raised with a group of Dragons that served his family.

One dragon couple was more than willing to take in the young child, in return for it they hoped that the child would be connected to one of their many children. While the child grew up she was given a name that was very special, at least to the dragons. The demon lord didn't give too much care for his daughter’s name. She was the cause of his grief so he let the dragons name the child; Reyna Emilia-Rosetta Militia, Emilia Rosetta was the name of the Valkyrie that was her mother.

When the young princess was ten years old, she helped the dragon couple with their many eggs. She happily watched over them and got attached to one of them in particular. When the eggs hatched months later she saw a black dragon with green eyes looking straight at her.

They had a stare contest before the dragon tackled her over and smothered her face making her laugh and smile. “H-Hey that tickles!”

“I am Nala, I can feel an attraction to you demon. Why is that?” The dragon said in her mind

Reyna; who had very long dark red hair and slit green eyes, happily smiled at the dragon before she gave her a toothy grin. “Your parents told me about something like this happening. It seems like you're my life bound dragon Nala, you are my protector.”

“I am huh? Well looks like you better not leave this place. I'm not ready to do much of anything. I can’t fly nor do I know what kind of breath I got.” Nala said as she tilted her head to the side

“Who's the flesh bag?” One of the other dragons said; it was a red dragon with orange eyes.

“Excuse you! I happen to be a princess thank you very much! I also happen to be bounded to your beloved sister. Have more manners than that.” Reyna said with her arms crossed “My name is Princess Reyna Emilia-Rosetta Militia. The Militia family happens to be the family in charge of hell at the moment.” Reyna said seriously

“Crap! I-I didn't know. S-Sorry ma'am. I'm Ethan. Please don't be mad at me.” The dragon said sadly

“I'm not, you’re just a dragonling, you have no idea what's out there. But luckily for you I do. I've been raised not only by your parents but by a lot of really important people here.” Reyna said with a smile

Reyna then saw a lot of other dragons pop up around her. They all were ready to listen to her and what she had to say. She explained all that she knew until she heard the voice of a familiar elder male she knew as her father. She got from between two dragons by the name of Ruby and Shadow before she went to where her father; a male who stood to be 5’10 with short dark red hair and green eyes, was and bowed to him.

“Hello lord Mephisto...Is there something that I can do for you today sir?”

“Come with me, you're going to meet someone you will be now entrusting your life with.” He said coldly

She looked behind her and waved a goodbye to them before she left out with her father. They walked back to the castle to see a teenage male with short black hair with silver eyes standing at 5’7. He had the uniform of the royal guard on, he looked stoic as he awaited for the King and princess. When he saw them he saluted the king and the King motioned for him to stand at ease.

“Commander Zane, I wish for you to meet my daughter Reyna, she is the one I wish for you to be married to once she becomes of age. As of now you are to get to know one another and for you to protect her.” The king said seriously

“But father I don't need some stiffy to protect me! I have a dragon to do that for me!” Reyna protested

Her father glared at her. “I don't give a damn what you have protecting you! You are to listen to the words I speak and if you have a problem with it then bite your tongue. Do I make myself clear to you young lady?!”

“Y-Yes lord mephisto.” Reyna said sadly before her father left

Once he was gone Zane sighed and shook his head. “Hey kid, don't expect me to be all lovey dovey with you just because you’re the king’s daughter. If it wasn’t for Lord Diablo and Lady Andariel's down fall you wouldn’t be a princess at all. You are beyond lucky to even be in the position that you are in so don’t get-”

“Shut up, I don't care what some prick my father likes thinks. You even dare get anywhere close to me and I will get my dragon to claw your eyes out. Mind you if you harm my dragon you will be attacked by her brother's, sisters and cousins. You wouldn't want to go up against an entire tribe of dragons now would you?” She said coldly as she narrowed her green eyes at the male.

He was taken back, he didn't believe she had it in her to talk back to him. She was only a child, but a snarky child at that. He gave her a weak smile. “No, that would not be good. I can understand a bond with a dragon. I have one of my own Princess.”

“Oh don't you even dare call me princess you arse. You’re not fooling me, I’m telling you right now you big meanie. I’m not marrying you, no way-no how. So shove your shivery crap up your butt and then some. I don't need some man in my life I don't know, for all I know you're just gonna use me then kill me. I don't want that and I'm not that stupid.” Reyna said with her hand out in front of her stopping him from talking “Now excuse me I have a life to get back to that doesn’t involve a prick like yourself.”

“What makes you think that I am?” Zane asked

“Well for starters your introduction to me was a big clue that you don’t want anything to do with me and you believed me to be a stuck up child. Guess what I'm not, I lived with dragons for all of my life. I don't live in the big ol' building behind you...anyways haven't you ever heard of first impressions go along way? Anyways does I look like I came from that big ol’place behind you? Geez. But whatever goodbye commander dork, let us never meet again.” Reyna said as she waved him off going back towards the dragon den.

Zane mumbled under his breath as he realized how much he had just messed up his chance to get on the good side to the young princess. Then it hit him that he could make her realize that he was going to be sincere to her. He looked behind him to the castle and he walked into the gates and up to the double doors. He pushed them both opened before he went straight ahead ignoring the harpies that were flying around cleaning around the castle.

He went up to the big iron doored room at the end of the hall and pushed those doors opened only to see the King with the remaining demons of hell talking around the room. They all stopped when they saw their commander.

“Ah Commander Zane, how was meeting my daughter?” Mephisto asked with a smile

“I believe I was too headstrong for the young girl, I assumed a lot about her. How come she does not reside here with the rest of the royal children? I would have thought she'd live here with them.” Zane said with sadness in his voice

Baal; A Short silver haired male with golden eyes laughed and smiled “I knew this would bite your ass brother! I told you having your daughter be with a bunch of dragons would not work out in your benefit!”

“Shut up Baal! There's a specific reason she lives there and not here! I refuse to have someone with her blood here.” Mephisto said with his arms crossed

“Oh it's been centuries brother, come off of your grudge! It’s not your innocent daughter’s fault that you f****d a Valkyrie! If anyone should be living with such animals it's you not her!” Belial a short brown hair and red eyed male commented bluntly

“I saw this coming a mile a way, Zane, even if it is by force- get Princess Reyna here. We will set up a room for the young girl and she will meet her many cousins.” Duriel; Mid-length blond hair and red eyes said seriously

Zane bowed his head before he left out, once he was gone Mephisto huffed out in anger. “You all are dead to me.”

“Oh shut up grumpy. Just be glad you weren't the one killed, that would have been hectic for all of us here.” Baal said as he ran a hand through his silver hair as his golden eyes narrowed at his brother.

Mephisto waved off his brother before he got up. “I won't be here when she get's here, I rather not see the same eyes that she had...I don't want to be reminded why I'm alone.”

Baal grabbed his brother by the arm and pushed him into a wall. “Suck it the f**k up you p***y! You've done nothing in concern for your daughter! What would she say if she saw how you’ve been treating the last thing you have of her like this?! She'd probably run you in if she saw this! Get the hell over yourself! You aren't the only one who's lost a lover! I've lost two, Duriel has gone through three woman as it is and Belial...Must I go on? Stop with the self pity s**t! It's not going to work! Your daughter needs you and you're just going to walk away from her!? What type of father are you!?”

“A crappy one that's what.” Reyna said dully from the doorway “I get it, he hates me. He'll never love me. I don't know why...but I can tell hatred when I see it. Why was I dragged from my home to this place?”

All of the lords were shocked to see the young woman standing there with her arms crossed over a raggy tan dress that was tied by a single rope as her hair was in her face but they could sort of see her green demon eyes.

“By the gods…” Belial said in utter shock standing up

Reyna felt unsure of being there and waited for an answer. “Well?”

“Princess-’ Duriel spoke

Reyna placed her hand up to stop him. “No don't, I'm not what you think I am sir. Please don’t call me that. I am not worthy to be a princess if my dear ol' father won't even talk to me let alone look at me.”

Baal's grasp on Mephisto tightened as he forced him to look at his daughter. “Look at what you're doing to her! Would Emilia want this?! Would she like seeing her beloved daughter like this?!”

“Don't talk about her in front of that scum!” Mephisto hissed out

“Hey uncle what's with this freak?” A raven haired male said confused as he pointed to Reyna.

“Excuse you! I happen to be the daughter of that moron!” Reyna said as she pointed to her father

The raven haired male's golden eyes widen. “No way, he doesn't have a daughter, if he did he’d- “

“JOEL MILITIA! DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK ILL OF YOUR COUSIN!” Duriel boomed out loudly

“Shit..” The raven haired male mumbled. “I-I apologize uncle but...but is this girl really my cousin?!”

“Yes, since her birth she's been living with dragons because my brother...your uncle mephisto is a coward. He cannot deal with his own faults and mistakes, he took it all out on the young woman you see before you.” Duriel said seriously

Joel's eyes widen before he looked to Reyna sadly. “I...I apologize Cousin. My name is Joel, what is yours?”

“R-Reyna...You aren't going to pick on me..a-are you?”

“Of course not. Come with me. Let's get you looking the part of princess. Since your father is the man in charge of this place after all.” Joel said with a smile

“That's a good boy, take her to see your sister. Afterwards I would like for you to get the rest of your cousins gathered in the main hall we will see you there once we knock sense into your uncle Mephisto.” Duriel said with a smile

Joel nodded his head before he looked to Mephisto. “Lord Mephisto, I don't know why you don't wish to see your daughter, but she belongs here, she is of royal blood. She is my cousin and I won't let her go be with a bunch of dragons!” Joel said before he grabbed Reyna's hand and ran with her down the hall.

Reyna had to try her best to keep up with Joel, she didn’t understand why he was being nice to her, the last male she knew was a total prick. She thought that all demon males were the same but she was proven wrong when it came to her cousins...at least she hoped that was the case due to the fact that Joel was nice to her. She hoped her other cousins would be the same.

When they got to a dark red door Joel knocked on it and he was greeted by a dark brown haired female with golden eyes. “Heya sis, this is our cousin from uncle Mephisto that he’s been keeping from us. Think you can help me bathe her and dress her properly?”

“O-Oh! Of course. Hello, I’m Leah….L-Leah Militia. It’s nice to meet you.” the brunette female said with a smile as she placed her hand out to Reyna

“I...I’m Reyna. I-It’s nice to meet you Leah.” Reyna said as she stood there awkwardly

Leah saw that she didn’t know how to shake hands and showed her. Reyna looked down at their hands and it felt strange to her at first, but then she smiled and shook her hand back. Leah pulled her into her room and into the bathroom off of it.

Joel stayed in the bedroom and waited for Reyna to be in the bath with many bubbles before hearing his name being called. “Big brother, help me get her hair shorter. No way this is gonna work out. Especially if uncle Mephisto has no want with her.”

Joel nodded his head and helped Leah out with Reyna hair, they cut it to be mid-length instead of being down to her feet. Reyna sighed a bit in relief. Leah knew that it must have felt better for her, so once the girl’s hair was cut she was able to bathe her. She then went to pick out an outfit for her.

Joel then went to go get their other cousins. It was a good ten or so minutes before the females came into the meeting room. Reyna was fairly close to Leah as she saw her father glaring at her. Reyna was now wearing a beautiful black and green dress that had spaghetti straps covered her shoulders.

Her red hair was pulled back into a half ponytail and was braided. She wore flats due to not having the balance and grace to wear heels just yet. The lords all but Mephisto got up which confused all the boys but Joel who stood up as well.

“Welcome home princess Reyna.” The males who knew her spoke

“Wait what?!” The remaining three princes said confused

“Father...are you displeased with me here?” Reyna asked sadly to her father

“That not the word I would use for your presence in my castle, but I have no more say in what happens. You see this castle is ruled by myself and Baal. We are the two eldest and therefore if we have the votes of the younger; Duriel and Belial, what we do can be put forth. I was out voted, so I must live with seeing your face.”

“Why is it that you dislike seeing me so father?” Reyna asked sadly

“That’s not for you to know right now. Maybe when you are older you may ask me that question if you remember it.”

Baal got up and he went down to level to Reyna as he slipped his hand under hers. “Darling niece I apologize for the life you’ve lived up to now. For now you shall live here, in peace with your cousins. I know this place will take time to get used to but I assure you that it is something that you will sooner or later find as your home.”

Reyna only nodded her head, afterwards a male, whom looked like a miniature version of Baal spoke up. “Father, you cannot seriously believe that I will accept this..this bratty girl as my cousin!?”

“Shut up you ignorant fool! You have no idea the life I’ve lived! You have no idea what it is like to live without parents, to live without the loving embrace of those who should have been there for you! Hold your tongue before it is cut from that disgusting mouth of yours for speaking such venom about a woman you know nothing about!” Reyna said coldly as her Green eyes flickered

The young male cowardly sat back down as Baal laughed and patted the top of Reyna’s head as she covered her mouth in shock. “I-I apologize.”

“Don’t be, he needed to learn his place and you my dear just proven you are Mephisto’s daughter. He has that same temper that you got. No doubt it’ll be hard for you to contain. But not to worry we have ways to keep that anger from getting the best of you. For now enjoy being here, where you truly belong my niece.”

She nodded her head with a weak smile. “T-Thank you uncle.”

The night was strange for Reyna, she met up with all of her cousins, Leah, Joel, Damon, Marco and Bane. She was told that she had an elder sister by the name of Lilith but she had died many centuries ago and a cousin by the name of Rakanoth but he too died centuries ago. Most of the information she was given, she was given to by Joel and Leah.

Damon, Marco and Bane wanted nothing to do with her, they thought she was worthless and was going to be dragon food. It wasn’t until dinner that night that a black dragon with green eyes flew into the dining hall and landed behind Reyna. “I found you finally! What are you doin’ here?! I thought you said you’d just be gone for a few hours! It’s been almost ten!”

The demons around them could hear the panic in the dragon’s voice. Baal was the first to speak up. “Dragon what is your name?”

“Oh me? Uh...it’s Nala sir.”

“Nala...you wouldn’t happen to be bonded with my niece would you?”

“Yupper duppers! I’m her dragon since I was just an eggy! Why-does it bother you that I am?” Nala asked with her head tilted to the side

Baal laughed and smiled. “You are still a child much like Reyna is. I can see why you’ve bonded with my niece. No doubt you’ve been concerned about her correct?”

The dragon nodded her head, Baal smiled and got up before he went up to the dragon patting the top of the young dragon’s head due to it being up to his waist.

“You are a good dragon partner for her. I’m glad that you have that type of instinct inside of you Nala. Her being a princess it will make the bond between the two of you stronger as you two both grow up.”

“So she’s not gunna be dragon food?” Damon; Baal’s son asked in disappointment

Nala growled at Damon. “She’s my partner but you’re not so you can be dragon food unless she tells me otherwise, you better be nice to her and I or I won’t hold back chomping on a pathetic demon like you. I bet you’ll just taste like yucky meat anyways, maybe charcoaling you will make you better tasting”

Joel laughed holding his side. “First Reyna now her dragon! Dude! Have you not learned to be nice?! Crap and I thought that it’d be Bane that would speak out not you!”

“Nala...please don’t. This is my family now...even if my father doesn’t wish me here. The other elders do. I can’t go back on that.” Reyna said with a sigh as she had her eyes closed

“Then I’m gonna stay here with you. No way I’m letting you stay with a bunch of people who don’t like you!” Nala growled

“We can arrange for a bed for you to be on if that’s what you wish Nala.” Belial said with a small smirk. “We’ve had dragons come and go from this place, no doubt Reyna will need to protection. Baal, Duriel and I all have idiots for sons.”

Marco, Damon and Bane all averted their eyes. Nala’s ears perked up. “Really! I can stay!”

“Of course, now how about some food? I bet you’re hungry after that big flight.” Baal asked

“foooood...Uh..um...I mean yes...t-that’d be nice.” Nala said first drooling a bit before she caught herself and shook it off and nodding her head.

Joel tried his best not to laugh as he smiled, Leah was in awe as she saw the dragon but said nothing as she just smiled at the beautiful dragon. Baal took Nala to the other dragons that lived within the castle before returning to eat.

Baal sighed as he looked to Reyna. “So, do you know how many dragons were hatched from the couple that took care of you Reyna?”

“Uh...um… A lot. I don’t know how to count. Only speak a bit.” Reyna said honestly

“Well that’s not going to do you any good, especially as the heir to Gehenna.” Belial commented.

“Oh great which means she’s gonna be in-” Damon said before he was whacked by his father and whined.

“Hold your tongue or I’ll take your magic from you for three centuries!” Baal growled annoyed

Damon looked scared at his father. “Y-Yes sir.”

“As we were speaking about, you’ll be getting private lessons from a very trustworthy source. This person has taught your father everything he knows and will be teaching you just the same. You’ll have tomorrow to look around this place to get used to it before you start your lessons. I wish for you to get comfortable since you will be living here for the remainder of your life.” Baal said sincerely

“O-Okay. Thank you Uncle.” Reyna said with a nod

The rest of the night she was spoken to by Joel who was interested in the Dragon she had who walked beside her. Nala stopped them before she sniffed Joel. “You...You smell familiar.”

Reyna looked between the two before she realized what she meant. “Nala do you believe that he could be bonded to one of your brothers or sisters?”

“Brother for sure. I can fly us there quickly, you gotta say bye-bye too!” Nala said with her ears down

“Alright, Alright...fair enough.” Reyna said before she got onto Nala only to have Joel help her before going on her back as well.
