AUTHOR’S NOTE The Rite of Spring – the metaphor. I have always admired the music of Stravinsky, and it was during a performance of Rite of Spring that my mind focused on the analogy to life today. The need for rebirth, not for the old systems to be reborn, but for something truly new. For the People. A society where social justice and fairness predominate – if you do not dream of a better, fairer world, you cannot expect to achieve it. If you do not wish for something, you cannot strive for it. The concept behind The Rite of Spring, developed by Roerich from Stravinsky’s outline idea, is that after various primitive rituals, celebrating the advent of spring, a young girl is chosen as a sacrificial victim and dances herself to death.
