‘Mmmm?’ Pimple said in response, it being hard to say anything coherent to a teacher, or a woman for that matter and especially a female teacher, without giving the game away; any boy will tell you that.
Ceeley, being a pragmatist, looked like she might put aside the gob stopper and move on. ‘I’ve been thinking we should write this article together.’ She looked at him, received the anticipated “err” and proceeded with her expressed train of thought. ‘I have a by-line and we can share it, Crumpet and Pimple, sound good to you?’
Crumpet and Pimple‘Coo’ he said, marginally better than “err” she considered, and carried on.
