The moment Lydia's name left my lips, something in Julian's expression flickered. For a split second, he looked panicked. He grabbed my hand. "Elena, listen to me," he said urgently. "There's nothing between me and Lydia. Did she say something to you? I'll call her right now and make her explain!" He pulled out his phone, found her number with practiced ease, and dialed. The call connected almost immediately. Her voice came through on speaker, soft, sweet, and almost cloying. "Julian? We just saw each other. Are you missing me already?" Julian's expression darkened instantly. "Lydia!" he snapped. "What have you been telling my wife? She wants a divorce because of you. You'd better explain yourself clearly. If you've damaged my relationship with Elena, I won't let you get away with it."
