Chance
“The test will be on the last three chapters that we have been working on. Remember that the test will be mainly essay so get ready to write a lot. That will be all for today everyone is dismissed.” Mr. Green told the auditorium as the students started to pack up when they heard the words that will be all. I was taking my time to put all the books back into my backpack because right in front of me was my angel. I just wanted to sit there and watch her all day long.
“Chance man come on. We have to get to the field house Coach called a meeting that we have to be at.” Jett started to tug on my shoulder to get me to hurry up. “I mean man you could not move any slower!”
“I am coming it is not like we have that far to go to even get to the field house. I mean you can chill man. I have to make sure I out these in my backpack the right way or they will bother me when I am wearing it.” I was trying my best to get him to leave me alone so that I could have another dream in my head with my angel. One day I will be able to talk to her and even take her into my arms to hold tightly. Just the thought of that dream was enough to make me slow down even more in packing my backpack.
“CHANCE !! You have completely stopped moving. You have got to come on Coach is waiting on us. We only have five minutes to get to the field house.” Jett started to put my last book into my backpack. At Jett’s words I finally came out of my day dream to look around. We were the only ones left in the auditorium. I had been so caught up in my dreams that I did not realise that everyone had left.
“Ok I am coming lets go so that we are not late. We will run to get there. Ready, Set, GO!” I sprinted out the door ahead of Jett. “Lets see if you can keep up with me.”
“Chance that was so not right. You can not get a head start and expect me to keep up. You know that you are the best runner on the team.” Jett starts to drag in his breath because he was having a hard time breathing. I mean our pads are heavy but a backpack with several text books is a lot heavier. “Thank god there is the field house!” Jett stops in the door holding onto the door frame as he takes several deep breaths.
“Oh come on it was not that bad. Lets get to our spots so that we can hear what the coach has to say.” I drag Jett into the locker room in the field house. As soon as we walked into he locker room and sat down coach walked in the room.
“Ok Ladies. This is a very important meeting. I have someone very special on campus this year and I want all of the team to keep an eye out for this person. But I do not want this person to know that you are watching them. So this meeting has nothing to do with football but personal things. “ Coach started the meeting off with a look on his face that non of the guys had ever saw before. “The reason that I am asking this is because I know that all of you will take what I am asking you and help me out. Let me give you a little bit of back story. This special person has already started their classes so you may have seen this person and just did not know them. This person is my daughter. She is my only child and her mother passed away last year in a tragic accident. My daughter has not had an easy time with everything. She is rooming with her best friend and spends most of her time with her. I just need you guys to watch out for her when it comes to some of the bad influences at this school. “ Coach was going on and on with his talk to us. “So my daughters name is Lisa. She does not use my last name so that no one really knows that she is my daughter. She goes by her mom’s maiden name.” As soon as coach said the name of his daughter I sat up straighter in my seat. “So that will be all guys and thank you for your help with this matter.” Coach dismissed all the guys at one time.
“Dude, your chrush is the coach’s daughter!” Jett punched me in the arm as he looked at me.
“SSHHH!! Don’t say that too loud someone will hear you. That is just what I need is for someone to hear you and think I am trying to make a move.” I put my head into my hands that were resting on my knees. Oh man what was I going to do the one girl that I have even thought about on campus just became the one girl I could not even ask out.
