Chapter 8

Chance I was wondering what was going on Coach had left practice without telling anyone. I mean he took a phone call then ran right out of practice while still on the phone. I was wondering if it had anything to do with Lisa. I was so hoping everything was ok and that nothing was wrong. As the shower cut off Jett walked out and headed straight toward me. “So dude do you have any idea why coach just ran out of here today? He was high tailing it.” Jett started to get dressed beside me. “I mean dude I have never seen that old man run at all.” Jett was just going on and on. About the time that Jett was about to start saying something again we both heard the locker room door bang open. “CHANCE !!  JETT !! Get over here and help me. One of you get my office door open and the couch cleaned off RIGHT NOW!!!!” Coach came banging into the locker room yelling at the top of his lungs but the thing that really caught our attention was that he was carrying Lisa in his arms. “Yes coach!” Jett and I both jumped up and ran to do what Coach asked us to do. As soon as the coach was cleaned off Coach placed Lisa down onto it. Before I knew what I was doing I kneeled down to take a hold of her hand. “Coach what happened? Is she ok? What do we need to do?” I just threw each question straight at Coach. In my mind all kind of things were going through it as to what may have happened to Lisa. Looking up I could see a strange look on Coaches face as he watched me with his daughter. “Chance is there something that I need to know about you and my daughter? Are the two of you dating? Also no there is not really anything you can do when she is like this she has to come out of it on her own. She is still coping with the event that killed her mother. Lisa was there the day it happened and saw everything that happened. She has these epoxides. They are getting longer in between each one but she is still having them.” Coach was explaining everything to Jett and I as he walked around and around his desk. Kind alike he could not sit still while he was going over everything. “No sir Coach there is nothing going on with your daughter. At least not right now but at one point I would like to be there for her.” I glanced over to Lisa’s face while I was telling Coach the facts of how I really feel about his daughter.
