CHAPTER 14

1225 Words
Ava's POV I found myself actually interested. It was strange, but not totally unexpected, since I knew the reason why. The class finished within the next hour, and my classmates scrambled, packing their things into their backpacks. I checked the timetable; it was the only class for the day. My heart raced faster—doubling, tripling. I felt as if my chest would burst open if the pace increased any further. I remained in my seat, waiting for everyone—or at least a large percentage of them—to leave. While waiting, I pulled out my phone and dialed Xavier’s number. He picked up immediately. “Done with class?” he asked before I could speak. “Yeah.” “Okay. I’ll come to pick you up in thirty minutes.” He didn't let me say anything else before hanging up. All I wanted was to set eyes on him again. It had been almost four hours since I last saw him, but it felt like forever. My body ached with a feverish need to see him. A blonde girl walked up to me. “Hey, girl,” she waved. “Ava, right?” “Yes,” I replied. “I’m Melissa,” she said with a grin. “Nice to meet you. Are you from this pack? I saw you with Alpha Xavier. I've been visiting the pack estate, but I haven't seen you before.” My stomach twisted. All the girls seemed to talk about knowing Alpha Xavier. Was he a playboy? I cleared my throat to respond, hiding my shock. “London,” I stammered. “Evercrest Pack, to be specific. He's my dad's best friend, so I just flew in to stay for college.” Her eyebrows lifted. “Oh! You’re far from home.” “Yeah,” I said softly. She smiled kindly. “Don’t worry. You’ll get used to it. RavenHills is fun, and we're like family in this medical college.” “That's great. I'm glad.” I gave a thumbs-up. “So... who are you to Alpha Xavier?” I didn't waste any time asking. It was my only worry. “I'm his Beta’s younger sister. That's why I often visit the pack estate.” “Oh,” I nodded, beaming with a satisfied smile. My heart was relaxed now, and my lips curled into a wider grin. “Friends?” she asked. “Yes, of course.” I grinned. She stretched out her arms, and I stood up, pulling her into a tight hug. The sun was lower outside as I stepped out of the class with her. “Let's visit the cafeteria to grab a drink and some snacks,” she suggested. “Okay.” I nodded. We got a couple of drinks and snacks, then sat on the field to enjoy them. “I need to finish quickly so I can call Alpha Xavier to come pick—” I paused, locking eyes with Melissa. “Are you coming to the estate today, or going back home?” “No, I'll be going back home today. My neighbor invited me to a birthday party. But I'll visit during the weekend,” she said. “Nice. Very nice.” We finished, and I was already bidding her goodbye. I waited for Xavier, peering at my Apple Watch. It had been twenty minutes since I left the classroom and last called him. He had to be on his way. There were ten minutes to go. I let out a small giggle. In ten minutes, I was going to see him. My eyes automatically drifted toward the campus gate, and I walked toward it, but he wasn't in sight yet. I walked slowly back to the "circus," which was what I thought was the right name for it—a circular green field with students sitting on the grass and some on concrete benches, surrounded by trees. It was directly opposite the entrance, so if he arrived, I would see him. I sat alone on the field, fiddling with my phone and looking focused. The place was breezy and calm, the most suitable spot for studying. I had no friends except Melissa, and she was already gone, but I hadn't come here to make friends anyway. I was here to wait for the one my p***y was clenching for. From time to time, I lifted my eyes to check the area. I saw students reading or chatting with friends. I gulped. I was about to return my fake focus to my phone when I sensed a masculine scent—a cologne. Even from my peripheral vision, I knew it was a guy. “Hello, pretty,” he teased. His voice was soft and sweet, but it didn't lack a masculine tone. “Hi.” I looked up. “Do you have a question, or are you looking for someone?” I asked aloofly, already letting him know I wasn't in the mood for flirting. He smiled, but I didn't. “Can I—” “Ava!” I heard a deeper voice, resounding with such authority that everyone turned. Knowing exactly who it was, I shivered with terror before turning around. I gasped when I saw him. Alpha Xavier. Oh, goddess. I was finished. He stood there wearing black pants and a black long-sleeved shirt rolled up to his elbows. His muscular frame was perfectly revealed by the fitted outfit. He looked sexy, super gorgeous—too hot to look at steadily. I shot a glance and flinched instantly. He was like a Greek god. My legs went numb as I stood up. I was almost bending down to pick up my bag when I heard him call again. Then, I remembered: I was wearing a skimpy skirt with no panties. Shame swelled deep into my bones. I had to squat, being careful not to part my legs. I turned to my side, and the guy had vanished. I looked ahead, then around. All eyes were on me. The girls looked on jealously while the guys looked with awe. Then I turned to Xavier. His look was the deepest of all, scorching into my skin. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me, but it didn't. I managed to gather my stuff and storm out, promising myself deep down never to make the mistake of dressing this way again. Does it matter? After all, you're dressing for him, my wolf tried to convince me. But look at the shame I almost faced, I cried back. I almost exposed my bare ass and p***y. To him? I gulped. I looked in the direction he stood. He was directly opposite me, and no one was behind him. I hummed with relief; even if I had exposed myself, he would have been the only one to see. That alone made me settle. “Good evening, daddy,” I greeted. It was close to the early part of the evening. “Come with me!” he said, his voice cold and stern. His hands were in his pockets. He took the lead, never once turning to look back at me. I didn't need anyone to tell me. I was in a mess, and he was going to punish me—just the way he said he always would.
