"We didn't know exactly, but we knew she was important. We were supposed to get her out of the pack, but we couldn't do so with the Alpha and Luna breathing down our necks. We had to keep her." Dad takes a breath.
"We were preparing to move her out of the pack when she shifted prematurely. It was a chance for us. We could disown her and when she was banished, as we were sure the Alpha had to, she could be intercepted." I look at him more intently now.
"She never showed at any border, but the packbond was dead. We assumed she was dead. The buyer was not happy, but said it was a calculated risk as she had shifted." I grit my teeth.
