Down at the train station, I walked past two people sitting on a table facing each other like they were on a romantic date with their eyes fixed to each other's lips, giving a glaze of emotional attachment.
Their minds connected, and their heartbeat could be felt from their chest.
I felt a warm touch on my shoulder with a good smell of an expensive fragrance drive past my nostrils. When I turned to see who it was, there stood a handsome guy with a well-dressed neat haircut and a bright smile steering at me, stretching his hands to give a warm handshake.
« Hello, my name is Charles Rossi, what’s your name?
I looked at him with anxiousness and surprise in my face, wondering what was happening, so I replied with am called Helen Braxton while still shocked. «
He went on saying,« Can we be friends? I would love to know you better. Can I have your number ? «
Still wondering why he would like to have my number is still a mystery to me at that point.
But I couldn’t hold myself, so I quickly stretched my hand to type my number on his phone, which was already on my face.
A loud voice echoed on the back seat saying,« Why have you left me for another woman? »
« Tears dripping down her face, her shoulders slumped, and her voice cracked as she whispered
His charming eyes were fixed on my face, staring at me. I wondered what could be going through his mind at that point.
I was speechless at that moment and when I turned to look at who it was, she was standing right there looking sad, disappointed with a teary eyelid feeling rejected. Without hesitation, I walked away to avoid a scene.
Getting to my car, I heard a male voice calling my name and telling me to stop for a minute. When I turned to see who it was, it was Charles trying to get my attention for an explanation.
I stop for a second to hear him out. He quickly rushed to my face, breathing heavily with his heart pumping so fast and his lips bumbling to speak out words of apology.
« Helen, I am sorry about what just happened. I promise to explain everything to you so can we need tonight for a dinner date around 8pm at coast is restaurant, if you don’t mind.
I looked at him with a frowning face, felt embarrassed and hesitant at first, but later said, 'Okay' He gave me a handshake and went ahead to apologize, making sure I wasn’t angry before parting ways.
In the car, I thought about what could be the reason for that incident and Charles was someone I could fall in love with or give him my heart. These questions kept running through my mind and I needed answers to them.
But his handsomeness was captivating. I couldn't stop thinking about his charming smile and soft voice. I think I am in love
Oh! No, I said to myself,« Wake up from this hallucination. You can’t just love someone because of his looks or voice. You are just recovering from a breakup so take your time to heal.
Can’t wait to see him again at 8pm tonight. I just hope he is truthful about this incident and also single too. I can’t afford to lose him to anyone.
« Hi Helen, I am glad you could make it to this dinner.
I’ve been thinking a lot about everything, and I realize there’s something I owe you — not just words, but real honesty, and a genuine apology.« ’I am really sorry from the depth of my heart . The lady you saw today is my co-worker. We work in the same company, and we are just friends. I never knew she had feelings for me and was also shocked about the display she made earlier.
Still not convinced by Charles' explanation and wondering if he was telling the truth, but had to accept his apology because my heart loves him, so I don't want to be negative about him.
Okay, I said while raising a glass of wine to have a toss. We both smile and sip the wine with our eyes focused on each other. From the steering you could see love in our heart.
« So ! Tell me everything about yourself,« Charles said, still staring at my face and sipping his wine with shyness in my face. I couldn’t look straight in his eyes but just tried to be bold enough not to look desperate.
We had a cool evening filled with laughter, sharing our personal experiences of relationships and talked about business-related topics too. I was so excited to have him by my side and have a conversation with him, but the night wasn’t long enough.
