CHAPTER 50 Halfway She admitted it properly on a Sunday morning and the admitting of it had the particular quality of something that had been pressing against the inside of a door for a long time and had finally been allowed to open. Not for the first time. She had been admitting it in increments for weeks, small private acknowledgments that she immediately qualified or redirected or filed under things that did not require immediate attention.
