SWEET SIXTEEN!

 ANIYAH POV:

I was running fastback and forth trying to catch my breath very badly. Suddenly it all became dark and I heard a loud sound like a blast. I saw light everywhere and opened my eyes feeling that.

My family members and my best friend Stephany was standing in front of me. they all started shouting the same thing from their mouths exited:

‘’HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.’’ After singing my mom came towards me and engulfed me in a warm hug. I love her the most in my life.

‘’Happy sweet sixteen birthdays, my princess.’’ She said kissing my both cheeks.

‘’Thank you for giving birth to me and raising me this far,’’ I said trying to act mature but everyone laughed on my words.

‘’You naughty, girl.’’ My mother said pinching my nose softly.

‘’Is this mother-daughter day. Or are we still here?’’ Dad said faking jealousy and I love it when he’d it. It makes me feel like I am the most important person in the world when my family shows me their love.

‘’No it's only my birthday,’’ I said and ran towards him and gave him a tight hug. On which my brother joined too.

‘’Actually, there is someone especially present here for you out of the family too. So can you spare some importance to me as well.’’ Stephany said bringing me back from my wonderland which only has my family in it.

‘’Shut up! You are my family too. Because you are my sister.’’ I said breaking the hug and forwarding towards her and she did the same and we had a battling type hug. who squeeze the other one most and she won as I am not that good when it comes to physical strength.

‘’Now let’s cut the cake.’’ My brother said looking at the cake like he only cared about eating it.

‘’But where are my gifts?’’ I asked as I always take gifts before I cut the cake.

‘’You, greedy brat. You think we will forget your crazy demand for all the years.’’ Brother said and motioned towards the side table filled with different size gifts and I smiled looking at them.

I wonder what’s inside all of them but first I must cut the cake before the hungry brother cuts me.

I took the knife and mom put her hand on mine and dad on hers and together we cut the slice while others clapped and singed again.

I gave the first bite to mom and she took my hand and gave me back one too. I did the same with dad and brother and Stephany.

After having light cake bites we cleaned with our own hands as it was late night and house servants were on leave.

‘’Now sleep. You need to go to school in the morning too.’’ Mom said giving me her goodnight kiss and rest followed her. I was alone in the room with a stack of shining gifts packed in different color sheets.

I felt sleepy so I decided to open them in the morning. I have a special event at the school tomorrow and I need to perform in it as well. So I can’t miss the chance to lack sleep and act lazy.

I got back in my soft bed pulling the duvet over me and in seconds drifted into sleep as I am a fast sleeper and love to sleep.

[MORNING]

‘’Wake up lazy princess.’’ I heard the sweetest sound on earth which belonged to none other than my only other.

‘’Five more minutes,’’ I said putting the blanket on my face.

‘’Well someone doesn’t want to get ready for her special day.’’ Mom said and then something came back right into my thoughts. I just remembered the performance and my birthday party in the evening.

I opened my eyes at once and got up and looked at the time. Thankfully I was saved but I have to get up to get ready. I ran straight to the bathroom and then remembered that I didn’t give my greeting to my mom.

‘’Good Morning,’’ I shouted from inside the bathroom because a morning I don’t meet my mom at first is not a good morning anymore.

‘’Good Morning. Princess.’’ She replied and I felt the chuckle in her voice. I also smiled and then got under shower and after doing my business and came out of the bathroom in a bathrobe.

‘’Good morning.’’ Our sweet maid who has been my caretaker for years greeted me smiling.

‘’Good morning,’’ I said and took a seat in front of my dressing table as a good girl and she started helping me with everything else.

I changed into a red floral net skirt. Reaching my knees and saying that I looked like some Barbie won’t be wrong because Elsa did so good or that even I liked the look.

‘’You look gorgeous. Dear.’’ Elsa said smiling.

‘’Thank you,’’ I said and smiled back at her.

After that, I went down to have breakfast with everyone else. My father was as usual busy reading the newspaper and mom was getting everything from the kitchen.

Brother was busy on his phone. I walked downstairs looking at the same old boring setting but how is it possible for things to stay the same when I enter the party.

‘’Good morning,’’ I said trying to sound normal so that they will give their attention to me.

‘’Good morning. You look stunning princess.’’ Dad said putting the newspaper aside quickly as he knows I don’t like him doing his work when he is with us.

‘’Thank you,’’ I said and waited for my brother to say something too.

‘’Good morning.’’ He said in his same old tone. He looked at me once but showed no interest in me.

‘’Just that?’’ I asked him taking my seat.

‘’What else?’’ he asked acting blank in front of me.

‘’Aren’t you suppose to say something to me?’’ I said telling him hints before actually start to get angry on him for not saying a word on me when I worked so hard to get ready. I might not be wearing makeup but the hair and dress were quite the effort.

‘’I don’t remember anything like that.’’ He said smirking. I knew he was only acting I front of me. he knows very well what I want.

I looked at dad for help and scold him for bullying his little sister but he was smiling from the corner of his lips too.

‘’You too are siding with him,’’ I said faking anger with him to win from brother easily.

‘’Well, it’s you two siblings thing. Keep me out of this,’’ he said making a serious face but I know he is laughing from inside.

‘’Cheating doesn’t help every time, princess.’’ My Brother said smirking and started putting jam on his bread.

‘’I don’t cheat. You know that.’’ I replied to him because I hate things that are illegal and cheating is one of them even on small matters as well.

‘’Yes. Yes.’’ He said breaking into a laugh and I pouted angrily on him in reaction.

‘’ don’t make such faces. You will get old fast. And I don’t want my beautiful sister to look old that early.’’ He said smiling.

‘’Who are you calling old but thank you,’’ I said feeling happy that he finally said what I wanted to hear very badly.

‘’You always like to win don’t you?’’ mom said sitting beside me.

‘’Yes. I always like to win when I am right.’’ I relied on telling her my competitive spirit.

‘’But what about when you are right and you lose?’’ brother asked me suddenly.

‘’How is that even possible? Isn’t it that positive always win from the dark. Then if I am right I will win anything.’’ I answered his question telling him how much wrong he was.

‘’Well, the world is not that much rule-following princess. Sometimes bad wins over right. It might be temporary but it’s quite effective.’’ Dad said lecturing me in a serious tone.

‘’Then are you saying evil wins over good,’’ I said not wanting to agree with them.

‘’Well sometimes as a test. It happens. But nothing stays the same.’’ Dad replied to the statement.

‘’But the day always comes after night. Light always took over dark.’’ I said telling him.

‘’But never forget that night also comes chasing after every day. And ends the light taking control over everything.’’ Mom said this time. And my mood for not believing was completely changed. Because I can never go against my mother.

‘’Now that is bad to hear,’’ I said surrounding in front of all of them.

‘’Don’t be sad. princess. It was only a fact we wanted to teach you. But never forget that always fight for the….’’ He said and didn’t complete his words.

‘’For the right,’’ I said and we both laughed. He always said this motto to me when I was going to start any work. It gives me strength and will to work hard for what I want.

After having my cereal, I knew it was time for me to go to school.

‘’Here put them on.’’ Mom said giving me Red 'Rainie' Mid-Block Heel Wide Fit Court Shoes. Helping me wear them. She got up and grabbed my both shoulders.

‘’Best of luck for today. And sorry we can’t be with you on such a unique occasion.’’ She said getting a little sad.

‘’It’s okay. Life comes first. Be successful in surgery. I know you will always support me.’’ I said telling her that I am a grown-up lady who is ready.

‘’Good girl.’’ She said while I heard the car horn from outside and I waved bye to her and went out running. I checked my phone for messages and yes there was one from Stephany.

‘’Girl meet me before anything else. We got a lot to do before the real show begins. It's urgent and it's serious.’’ I read the message and I know she doesn’t get that serious over everything so there must have been something of. I wonder what happened to make her that worried. After scrolling on some social media platforms. We reached school.

‘’Good Luck princess. Win the award and none less.’’ Dad said forwarding his fist towards me.

‘’Yes sir,’’ I said giving him a fist back and walked inside.

‘’Where are you……...
