Lionel, who had just witnessed the lovely scene, leaned against his car with a smile on his face. As soon as he caught their attention, he walked toward them with a meaningful grin. Glancing at their faces, he burst into laughter. "Why do you guys look like you've seen the Grim Reaper?" Lionel teased.
Vandy glanced at Rora and then said in a deep voice, "Excuse us."
Though Rora was curious about the complex relationship between the brothers and the larger Singers family, she respected Vandy's decision. "Okay," she said, turning to leave.
But before she could go, Lionel spoke up. "Why are you sending her away? She’s the mother of your children; she deserves to hear whatever I have to say."
