When Rora heard the question, she stared at her daughter helplessly. Despite the disheartening look on her face and her wish to assure her that her father would surely return, it was impossible because Vandy looked so unsure and uncertain.
"Daddy will come back, Riri, don't worry," Rex said, holding his sister's hand reassuringly. He added, "Daddy used to travel a lot for business meetings, and he could be gone for days or even weeks, but whenever he came back, he always brought me big gifts."
Comforted by Rex's words, the tears pooling in Riri's eyes stopped, and she didn't bawl anymore. Rora exhaled in relief. She didn't want to give Riri false assurance, only to see her disappointed later.
"Let's go down for breakfast. I'll take you two to school," Rora said as she got to her feet. R
