Many Years Earlier Nora's POV I watched with envy boldly written over me as the couples moved around the orphanage, checking out the kids and holding them by the hand as they walked out. Why couldn't that be me? I sighed as I watched another kid get adopted. That would be the twentieth kid that was preferred instead of me. Yes, I had been counting. I sulked, moving off to a corner as I was unable to bear the pain anymore. I stared at the toys I had been playing with before the orphanage was open to visitors, no longer interested in them. "We will have her." I heard a man say and let out a heavy sigh, my shoulders crumpling with sorrow. That was another kid that was preferred. What an unlucky child I was.
