Chapter eight

506 Words
The wind howled and bellowed blowing up dust from the ground onto everything that stood on the road, and kola shielded his eyes from the dust with his hands. He had no idea how he got here or where he was going to but he knew he had to move on, strange birds cackled above him but when he looked he saw nothing but the large expanse of cloudless sky. As he trudged on he felt something reverberating on his right wrist, but he made no move to look at it because he knew what it was, it had been with him throughout his entire life and would probably be with him forever. Just then the wind stopped, surprised kola stopped and listened, everywhere was quiet and still, nothing moved except his heart which was beating wildly, he had a feeling something was wrong and as he thought so right before him was a cloud of black smoke, terrified he tried to run but it was impossible, as if his legs were fused to the spot. And to his horror, the cloud of smoke began to inch towards him until it surrounded him and then he felt the smoke entering into him through his mouth, nose, eyes and ears, he could feel the smoke overtaking his systems crushing them and he screamed. "Kola!...Kola wake up!!". He gasped as he opened his eyes breathing heavily, it took him some moments to realize that he had been dreaming, he was doused with his own sweat and his head ached badly. " Kola, kola talk to me what's wrong". His wife called her voice strangled. "Maria...I can't move, I can't move my body". ___________ Desmond stared into the dying embers, he still had a-lot of questions and although Santiago had tried to answer some of them, he still hadn't understood. "So how do we stop her, how do we restore balance and break off the covenants?". He asked looking up from the dying embers. "You must retrieve the orb of light, and destroy the orb of darkness, only that can stop her...I'm afraid it will not be easy". "Where is this orb of light?". "Frankly, I do not know, no one does even Gaṣhiki. But it has been said that a seeker will come, one who will redeem us all, and the orb will be revealed to him". "All these mysteries, am so confused". Desmond said sighing as he rubbed his eyes. "It's left for you to sort it out". "Look, I don't mean to disrespect you, but I really don't want this, i should have listened to my mother, all of this is just a waste". When Santiago didn't answer him he added, "I'll be leaving tomorrow, I think it's best if I just continue with my life than risk it to the unknown". "That's what you think, but you will come back, even sooner than you think and then you will see". Santiago said as he stood up. "Goodnight seeker". he said and made his way inside.
