Desmond sat outside his house, he had come back early that day but his mother was not at home, and try as he might, he could not keep himself from thinking about what Santiago had told him. Could it be true?, Could he really be the one?, He sighed as his phone began to ring.
"Hello Mama....ehn, when?...ok am on my way, I'm coming".
He furrowed his brow as he pocketed his phone, his mother had just told him that something was wrong with Kola, and he had a feeling that something was not right.
____________
"He had been like this since last night, i—i don't understand". Maria said tears in her eyes.
"It's ok, he will be fine". Desmond's mother said consoling her as they sat on a lounge in the living room.
Tayo sat opposite them with Desmond sitting beside him.
"What does this mean?, I don't think this is normal at all". Tayo said out loud.
"Me too... Mama, I don't think this is a good time, but with this situation on ground I don't think we have the luxury of time again". Desmond said turning to face his mum.
"What is it".
Sighing Desmond peered into the face of everyone seated there as he recounted all that Santiago had told him.
"So what is the next step now". Tayo asked.
"I'm leaving back tomorrow, I have a feeling that this thing that happened to Kola is not ordinary, not at all".
"I will go with you". Tayo pitched in.
"I cannot ask you to risk your life like that". Desmond disagreed.
"I am the one insisting, I will come along and that is final". Tayo said with a note of finality in his voice.
"What do you boys think this is about... please don't endanger your lives oo, you guys are all I have ehn!". Their mother said worried.
"Don't worry Mama, everything will be alright, we have a chance to not only relive Kola, but we can tackle this problem in our family. At least we can try". Tayo assured.
Desmond felt the same way too but he was faced with a Hubson's choice and he had to do something, his mind had been foggy since he returned and he needed time to iron it out and think more about what he had just got his younger brother into, but here was not the place.
"Ehm, Mama, I'm coming I have to go somewhere now...I'll be right back". He said as he stood up.
"Where are you going to?". She asked.
"I won't be long, don't worry". He answered as he walked out of the house.
